Today at Sevmash the lead nuclear submarine of project 885 "Severodvinsk" has been removed from the dock.
The ceremony was attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Vysotsky, General Director - General Designer of SPMBM Malakhit Vladimir Pyalov, USC President Roman Trotsenko.
The new ship of the Russian submarine fleet was built according to the project of JSC SPMBM Malakhit. It belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered ships and has fundamentally new architectural features. In the arsenal of Severodvinsk, new armament capabilities have been used.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dmitry Medvedev said: “It's great that this boat bears the name of your beautiful city. The new cruiser is an example of the effective implementation of a complex and large-scale project. Designers, workers of the enterprise, everyone who took part in the implementation of the project, coped with the task brilliantly. A program for the development of military and civil shipbuilding will soon be approved, and one of its directions is the creation of a whole series of ships similar to the cruiser Severodvinsk."
“Russian shipbuilders are proving that they are capable of building ships of the highest complexity,” said Roman Trotsenko, President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. “Sevmash demonstrates its readiness to manufacture military products of the next generations”.
“For the workers and engineers of Sevmash, the construction of the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine is a significant step in the field of technical progress, on this project the plant has mastered a large number of new design solutions both in the architecture of the ship and in equipment and complexes. I am sure that this invaluable experience will allow us to build even more advanced ships”, - noted the General Director of Sevmash Nikolay Kalistratov.
At 14 hours 10 minutes, the ship was set to move. After leaving the workshop, the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine will be transferred to a floating dock and then launched. The nuclear-powered ship will have to undergo mooring and sea trials, which will be provided by the delivery team under the leadership of Valery Dobrovolsky and the crew under the command of Captain 1st Rank Sergei Mityaev.
This is the first ship in the history of Sevmash, over which the city of Severodvinsk took patronage. On December 22, 2009, documents were signed between JSC PO Sevmash and the administration of Severodvinsk on patronage of the crew of the nuclear submarine Severodvinsk.
