Despite the general skepticism towards Georgian firearms, it should be noted that gradually the samples that are being developed and produced are getting better and better. We will not touch on the topic of why this is happening and with whose help, but rather we will analyze one of the fairly good samples of a large-caliber sniper rifle chambered for 12, 7x99 and 12, 7x108 cartridges. However, the design of the weapon is quite simple, and everything depends only on the quality of materials and the quality of processing, in addition, the tasks that the designer of this sample set for himself are more suitable for the PTR, and not for the SWR, but the main thing is that the weapon was created in accordance with the plan.
First of all, it must be said that not every large-caliber sniper rifle is a sniper rifle, and even the presence of an optical sight does not make it so. Despite the fact that anti-tank rifles have long disappeared as a class, they can be definitely identified among modern large-caliber babakhals. And next to them there will indeed be long-range sniper rifles, the large caliber of which is determined by the fact that a light bullet flies very reluctantly over long distances. The Barbalo B213 large-caliber rifle considered in this article is more likely to be an anti-tank rifle than a sniper rifle. The main targets of a person armed with this device are light armored vehicles, radar, in rare cases - the enemy's manpower. The proof of this can be the fact that, despite the single-charge weapon, its design is such that ultra-precise shooting is virtually impossible, since the design has a spring to damp the recoil. Thus, the weapon stops kicking, but at the same time it seriously loses in accuracy, which is noticeably noticeable even at medium distances, but about the design features a little lower.
The appearance of the device is rather ordinary. Despite the fact that the weapon is made in a bullpup layout, it is not remarkable for this, since recently this layout is quite common for large-caliber sniper rifles. Thanks to this arrangement, the rifle becomes more compact, but at the same time the weapon loses its convenience when reloading, since the bolt handle is located not just in the face of the shooter, but in fact at his ear. This feature of the weapon is especially critical against the background of the fact that the rifle is single-shot. On the other hand, reloading weapons can be assigned to the "second number". Thus, we can say with confidence that the only detail that should have been convenient was successfully locked, but the weapon is more compact and lightweight in comparison with large-caliber rifles in the classic layout. In general, if we talk purely about the appearance, the B213 rifle looks like a rather powerful and formidable device with a minimum of frills. A large muzzle brake-recoil compensator immediately gives out a large caliber in the weapon, however, the effectiveness of this DTK is questionable.
To prove that the muzzle brake-recoil compensator is not the most effective, the design of the weapon itself can be cited. So, in addition to the DTK, to reduce the recoil when firing, the weapon has a recoil spring, which is compressed when fired. In other words, it turns out that the rifle has a movable barrel, which by itself negatively affects the accuracy of firing, but the weapon behaves more calmly when firing. Oddly enough, but many manufacturers did without it, while the weapon turned out with a powerful, but quite tolerable recoil. It is clear that the more convenient and comfortable the weapon is in operation, the better, but only when this does not compromise performance.
Separately, it is worth noting that the rifle can be powered by both domestic cartridges 12, 7 and NATO standard ammunition, which by itself speaks of the accuracy of the apparatus. Nevertheless, the optical sight is hung on the weapon and even declared about the practical firing distance of up to one and a half kilometers. At the same time, along with these characteristics, armor-piercing at a distance of 91 meters is separately noted. True, it is not clear here how sideways the armor-piercing refers to the rifle, since this is more merit of ammunition than weapons, but not the essence. You need to pay attention to the goals that the designer set for himself, namely, the defeat of lightly armored vehicles and enemy manpower in personal body armor at medium distances. It is for this reason that it is possible and necessary to consider that the weapon turned out to be good, since it corresponds to what was originally conceived, and, perhaps, even better in some way. Yes, a sample was created from the late first half of the twentieth century, but it was made and done relatively well. It remains only to see how this weapon will behave after the start of mass production.
The total length of the weapon is 1200 millimeters with a barrel length of 800 millimeters. Weight 11, 5 kilograms.
Perhaps I am too rosy to perceive information about this sample of weapons, but it should be noted that any weapons school, of any country, even a potential enemy, with a good pace of development, can give an impetus to the development of domestic weapons, at least in the form of some ideas and by no means in the form of copying. If we talk about this weapon, then, based on the goals pursued, in my opinion, it would be reasonable to make the rifle self-loading, endowing it with a higher rate of fire, since accuracy was sacrificed.
