Within two years, the Baltic Fleet will receive into service two corvettes of the project 20380 "Soobrazitelny" and "Boyky". Vice-Admiral Viktor Chirkov, Commander of the Baltic Fleet, told the journalists about it.

To replenish the surface forces of the Baltic Fleet, OJSC Severnaya Verf Shipyard in St. Petersburg is currently building these two corvettes. According to the vice admiral, quoted by Interfax-AVN, as early as February, as planned, "Soobrazitelny" will begin mooring tests, and by the end of the year it should be accepted and put into operation. In March, the plant will launch the Boykiy corvette, the construction of which is in full swing. This ship is due to replenish the fleet next year.

As previously reported, the Soobrazitelny corvette is the first serial ship of Project 20380. This is the second order of Project 20380 and one of four corvettes being built at Severnaya Verf. The head corvette was "Guarding" (pictured). It was laid down in May 2003. The third order - the Boiky corvette - was laid down in July 2005, the fourth - the Stoyky corvette - in November 2006.

The project of the corvette was developed by JSC Central Marine Design Bureau Almaz - the leading design and engineering organization of the shipbuilding industry in Russia. TsMKB "Almaz" today is a designer of small and medium displacement surface warships, air-cushion landing ships, speed boats, mine defense ships, as well as ships and ships of special purpose and floating docks. The vast scientific and technical potential of the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau is based on vast experience in the design, construction and testing of ships, highly qualified specialists, close cooperation with shipyards and leading research centers in Russia. According to the projects developed by the company, more than 26 thousand warships, boats and vessels for various purposes have been built.

The project 20380 ship is intended for operations in the near sea zone and for fighting enemy surface ships and submarines, as well as for artillery support of amphibious assault forces during amphibious assault operations. Stealth technology is used in the construction of ships.

The displacement of the corvette is about 2,000 tons, the total length is 105 meters, and the maximum speed is 27 knots. Autonomous navigation range (at a speed of 14 knots) - 4,000 nautical miles. The creation of the ship gave a powerful impetus to the revival of Russian industry in terms of the development of high technologies. 21 patents were introduced into the project and 14 certificates of registration of computer programs were issued. The latest solutions were used to reduce the physical fields of the ship. In particular, it was possible to significantly reduce the ship's radar signature due to the use of low-combustible fiberglass plastics with radio absorption properties as the superstructure material, as well as due to the architectural layout of the hull and superstructure.

Today, the combat composition of the Baltic Fleet includes surface ships of various classes and purposes, submarines, support vessels, as well as naval aviation, coastal troops, air defense forces and assets. In the year that has begun, the Baltic Fleet will have a rich combat training. It is planned that the BF ships will take part in international maneuvers together with the Baltic Sea naval forces "Baltops", held annually within the framework of the Partnership for Peace program, and in the international exercises for the search and destruction of explosives in the Baltic Sea "Open Spirit".

The Baltic sailors will have to write many more glorious pages in the history of the oldest Russian fleet. Recently, the commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vice-Admiral Viktor Chirkov, congratulated the personnel of the Baltic Fleet's surface ships division on the 40th anniversary of the formation of the formation commanded by Captain 1st Rank Alexander Shcherbitsky. As reported in the information support group of the BF, the division of the missile ships of the fleet was formed in January 1971 on the basis of formations of missile ships and destroyers. Today it is one of the main strike forces of the Baltic Fleet surface ships. Since the creation of the division, the ships of the formation have repeatedly performed tasks of combat service and alert duty in various regions of the World Ocean, took part in exercises and combat training of the Navy, and later in exercises and events of foreign states, including NATO countries.

For the first time in the modern history of Russia, the Neustrashimy patrol ship was the first of the Russian Navy's ships in 2008-2009 to carry out anti-piracy missions and ensure the safety of navigation of civilian ships in many countries in the Gulf of Aden, including directly escorting more than 60 ships. During the combat service, which lasted a total of more than 7 months, the ship covered more than 30 thousand nautical miles. In 2009-2010, the crew of the TFR "Neustrashimy" once again successfully completed the tasks of the combat service in the fight against sea pirates.

The ships of the Baltic Fleet formation have repeatedly become the winners of competitions in fire and tactical training and won the challenge prizes of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. In the entire history of the formation, the Baltic surface sailors were recognized more than 30 times as the best in the Navy in artillery, amphibious and anti-aircraft training. In 2010, the ships of the division successfully completed the tasks of combat services in the North, Mediterranean, Red Seas, the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean, visited the ports of Syria, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Denmark.

The personnel of the Baltic Fleet today is a worthy heir and continuer of the best traditions of Russian sailors. The Baltic people selflessly serve their people and Fatherland, fulfill their patriotic and military duty with dignity and honor, courageously carry out the difficult service to protect the national security of Russia and its state interests.
