Just last week, the media reported that the 20th Army of the Western Military District received at its disposal a new training ground with a section of the river, where it is now possible to practice skills to overcome a water barrier. And literally a week later we received an invitation to see how everything is going.
This is how we ended up in the first practical lesson of one of the units of the 20th Army. The fact that this is just an occupation, and not an ostentatious performance, those in the know will see on video footage. On my own behalf, I will say that there were flaws and nerves, but everything went well and without incident.
How does any workout begin? That's right, with the construction and formulation of the problem.
There was a separate conversation with the driver-mechanics, both in the impromptu classroom and on the model.
The rest dispersed according to the command "to their places!" and started preparing.
The first on the water surface were not the BMP crews, but the rescue crews. With divers.
In addition to two boats with divers, a boat was constantly on duty on the river.
And on the shore, in the places where the equipment exited the water, there were tractors with calculations, ready to feed the cables to the car with which something happened and pull it out onto land.
The medical team was also present, but the fact that she was frankly bored in complete inactivity was only a plus.
Nachmed even borrowed a truck for a short time, but more on that below.
These guys had to run the most. Not all locals, and especially visiting fishing enthusiasts, are aware that there is now a training ground. I had to drive them away several times.
Classes on this particular day were somewhat complicated by the fact that locks were opened on the dam upstream and the speed of the water increased greatly. Which made life very difficult for the crews. Cars immediately after entering the water began to turn in the opposite direction.
It should be noted that the task was not just to cross the river and reach the other side. Everything is somewhat more complicated. It was necessary to enter the water, cross two sections, moving against the current, and only then go ashore. In general, about half a kilometer of the river poured out for some in the whole journey.
In the middle of the day, the commander of the 20th Army, Major General Peryazev, arrived. I looked at the actions of the crews, then I gathered those who had already sailed their own and those who still had to do so.
At first there was a short instruction, then the conversation turned into a softer channel. The commander demonstrated both knowledge of technology and the ability to communicate with personnel. So that without trembling in the legs of subordinates. I overheard a little while hanging out there.
"Who was on the troika right now? What are you stumbling about in the middle? That's right, the water has entered. You were confused, and it was carried out to the sandbank. But don't be afraid, the car won't sink right away. I checked. And it's not deep, you know ? You know. Calmly switched and quietly jumped out."
What else I noticed was that when the general arrived, no panic arose. "Nix" was not, the pace of work remained the same. Which testifies to several things, and all of them are pleasant.

On the whole, what I saw pleased me. Firstly, such a training ground for the army is very, very necessary. It is with a river that is unpredictable on the strength of the current. There are many rivers in our country, and to be able to overcome them is a very necessary thing. Considering that this training ground actually adjoins the training ground where motorized riflemen and tankers train in driving and shooting, the "all-in-one" option is very useful.
It's good when there is someone to cook, on what and where.
