Domestic rifle ORSIS became a world-class sensation
On the pages of the KM. RU portal, materials of critical content are often published. We offer our readers interviews with experts who are not afraid to point out the real problems of our country. At the same time, it would be completely wrong to form only a negative picture of the present. In Russia, in spite of everything, there are major successes. Not all factories have collapsed, not all the best minds have gone abroad.
An outstanding achievement of Russia was the ORSIS rifle, which has already made a splash both domestically and in the world.
We contacted the manufacturer directly for details. And here are the answers we received.
1. Is it true that some ORSIS models are superior to their world counterparts?
All ORSIS rifles have an accuracy of fire of 0.5 MOA. This means that five shots at a distance of 100 m fall into a circle with a diameter of 1.5 cm. If a rifle has an accuracy of less than 1 MOA, then this weapon can be considered high-precision. The accuracy of ORSIS rifles in half an arc minute corresponds to the performance of many foreign analog rifles, and sometimes even exceeds these indicators.
2. Which countries are the most serious competitors for domestic products in your area?
First of all, these are arms manufacturers in Austria, England, USA and Germany.
3. Is the ORSIS rifle a product for hunting, sports or self-defense?
The entire ORSIS range is divided into three areas: special, hunting and sports carbines. The majority of ORSIS rifle buyers are precision shooters and hunters. With calibers such as the.300 Win Mag. (7.62x67 mm) and.338 Lapua Magnum (8.6x70 mm) the effective range of rifles in these calibers can be up to 1200 - 1600 m, respectively, which allows owners of ORSIS carbines to hunt at long distances, whether it be steppes or mountains.
Excellent accuracy indicators are of interest to athletes who take part in the High Precision Shooting Championships, and it should be noted that they perform very successfully.
4. Tell us about victories with ORSIS rifles in precision shooting competitions.
If we talk in particular about the ORSIS T-5000:
- The team of CSN FSB "Alpha", took "gold" with rifles ORSIS T-5000, at the 11th World Sniper Championship (Hungary) in 2012.
- Belarusian "Alpha" took gold with ORSIS T-5000 rifles at the 2014 Sniper Olympics.
- Ian Berry with the ORSIS T-5000 rifle, achieved an excellent result (third place in B and G classes) at the prestigious McQueen sniper competition in the UK in 2014.
- ORSIS T-5000 rifles brought gold to the Chinese team at the World Sniper Shooting Cup (Hungary) 2015.
- Valery Shits with the ORSIS T-5000 rifle took first place in the qualifying match (distance 600 m) at the F / TR Championship in Pakistan in April 2016.
These are far from the last victories of the flagship of "PROMTECHNOLOGIA", many records and achievements are yet to come!
5. Why is the price of your products so high and do you plan to reduce it?
The price of ORSIS rifles is absolutely competitive for a rifle of this class. The thing is that the technologies and materials used form the final cost of the product. For example, the grooves inside the bore are made using the single-cut technology, the so-called "Champion Technology". This method is quite expensive and time-consuming, but it is this method that allows you to obtain barrels with excellent accuracy and minimal tolerances.
It should also be noted that modern high-precision weapons systems can only be manufactured from first-class materials. Wood laminate and high quality barrel steel used for making barrels: stainless steel (type 416R) and chrome-molybdenum steel (type 4140). For the production of bolt groups and trigger mechanisms, special stainless high-strength steels are used. Stock structures are made of various materials: wood laminate (special weapon-grade plywood), precious wood and aluminum.
If we compare the cost of foreign analogue rifles in Russia, then in most cases ORSIS will have the most attractive price.
6. Are there orders for ORSIS from other countries?
We are actively working on the international market: with the countries of Europe, the Middle and Far East, the CIS countries.
7. How strong is the design base on the basis of which ORSIS is produced and will new models appear soon?
We have our own design bureau, and it has developed advanced technical solutions that are implemented in the process of manufacturing ORSIS high-precision weapons systems. For the design work, modern software, computer modeling tools and control programs for CNC systems are used. On an ongoing basis, cooperation is carried out with specialists from leading Russian research institutes and higher educational institutions specializing in metalworking, materials science, design and testing of modern weapons systems.
ORISIS is, first of all, a whole team of like-minded people, passionate about their work, aimed at achieving the best results and proud of their products.
At the plant's facilities, a full cycle of rifled weapons production has been established: the manufacture of barrels, bolt groups, triggers, boxes, assembly, inspection and test shooting of finished products. Development of designs, technologies, selection of equipment - all this was carried out by the plant's specialists without the involvement of foreign specialists. ORSIS rifles are completely independent, original development.
