At the Kapustin Yar training ground, live firing of an anti-aircraft missile brigade equipped with a modern anti-aircraft missile system "BUK-M2" will take place. This was reported to RIA Info-RM by the press secretary of the commander of the North Caucasus Military District, Lieutenant Colonel A. Bobrun.

This is the first and only unit of the Army Air Defense of the Ground Forces to receive the newest BUK-M2 complex.

At the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan Region, live firing of units of the air defense of the motorized rifle formations of the Central Military District is taking place.

Anti-aircraft gunners from the Volga region, the Urals and Siberia perform live firing at small-sized high-altitude and low-flying air targets from the Buk-M2, S-300, Tor, Osa, Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile systems, anti-aircraft gun missile system "Tunguska" and MANPADS "Igla".

In the course of firing, aerial targets "Singing" are used, imitating unmanned and manned aerial targets at low and medium altitudes (up to 5 km) and "Saman", imitating tactical aircraft and cruise missiles, as well as the modernized anti-tank guided missile "Falanga-M "designed to simulate a maneuvering air target.

Ammunition imitating air targets reproduces various characteristics of air attack weapons, which is an essential element in the course of performing tasks for monitoring the air situation, searching for and detecting air targets with their subsequent destruction using modern air defense weapons.

The conditions for performing firing at air targets are as close as possible to combat ones. The minimum time is allocated for the detection, capture and destruction of the target.

The crews of anti-aircraft missile systems work out the issues of occupying launch positions and deploying on the ground, preparing combat control points for combat work.

When practicing combat missions, radar subunits organize combat duty, conduct reconnaissance of the air enemy. The subunits' firepower is preparing to repel an air strike.

To organize the control of air defense forces and interaction with the covered troops, modern communications and automated control systems are used. The use of automated control systems makes it possible to identify and distribute air targets in the shortest possible time, as well as to bring commands to destroy them to the fire assets in real time.

The issues of conducting radar reconnaissance, control and interaction are being worked out in the conditions of radio suppression of communications equipment and the setting of radio interference in various frequency ranges to radar equipment.

Fire subunits carry out tactical camouflage measures, practice the actions of nomadic subunits and firing from an ambush.

The conducted live fires are a planned event for the training of military command and control bodies and troops of the OSK "Center" and are held from August 30 to September 26, 2010.

In total, over 2 thousand servicemen of the military air defense units of the Central Military District and about 700 pieces of equipment were involved in the shooting.
