Upgraded T-72B tank (T-72B3 variant with additional options).
The main novelties of the presented tank are the engine (1160 hp with automatic gear shifting), the new panoramic sight of the commander with a laser rangefinder (VOMZ), the installation of a rear-view television camera on the rear plate of the tank hull and a number of other improvements.
The self-retrieval log of the tank is located on the starboard side (along the course of the tank) in connection with the installation of a rear view camera. The solution is very unfortunate, because completely prevents the reinforcement of the sides with dynamic protection.
Installation of DZ on the tower is similar to the T-72B3. The gunner has a multi-channel sight "Sosna-U" developed by the Belarusian OJSC "Peleng". The sight is not inferior to the level of modern world analogues.
Installation of DZ "Contact-5" on VLD. The first (left) photo shows the installation of the remote sensing device, the entire upper plate of the hull nose assembly is not covered. What the designers of the UKBTM thought when creating such a design remains a mystery.
In the photo on the right there is a cover for installing remote sensing elements with a rubber gasket installed.
The photo shows the commander's panoramic sight. Surprisingly, the carelessness of the workmanship, which readers can see in the photo on the protruding wires and boards.
A rear-view video camera with a remotely opening shutter is installed on the stern leaf. It can be assumed that the chosen location is extremely unfortunate and the lens will get dirty very quickly.
The tank uses a new motor-transmission unit with an 1160 hp engine. and automatic gear shifting.
Power screens are installed on the sides of the tank.
On the presented sample, UKBTM tracks are used with a new lug structure, which reduces slip when cornering and provides somewhat better reliability.
The tanks, modernized according to this standard, will participate in the upcoming international competition - "tank biathlon".
