The main contract in February was the signing of an agreement with Indonesia for the supply of 11 Russian multifunctional Su-35 fighters. The deal is valued at $ 1.14 billion, of which $ 570 million will be covered by the supply of Indonesian commodities. Also in February, Rosoboronexport reported on the volume of arms supplies to Indonesia for the period from 1992 to 2018.

Russia and Indonesia signed a contract for the supply of 11 Su-35 fighters

Russia and Indonesia signed a contract for the supply of 11 Su-35 generation 4 ++ multifunctional fighters, the Russian news agency Interfax reported on Thursday, February 15, citing its own sources in Jakarta. The signing of this contract on February 16 was confirmed by Totok Sugiharto, the head of the public relations center of the Ministry of Defense of Indonesia.

The cost of the contract is $ 1.14 billion, part of which is covered by counter-deliveries of Indonesian goods, but this part of the contract is not detailed by Indonesian sources. Earlier in the Russian media there was information that we are talking about exactly half of the declared amount - $ 570 million, which are going to be covered by the supply of Indonesian raw materials. It should be noted that these goods, most likely, will not be physically delivered to our country, and will then be sold on the exchange.

The fact that the supply of modern Russian aviation equipment under Indonesian legislation is linked to offset obligations and countertrade was previously said by Viktor Kladov, who holds the post of Director for International Cooperation and Regional Policy of the state corporation Rostec. According to him, this means that Russia has undertaken to purchase a number of national Indonesian goods. Kladov noted that Indonesia could supply Russia with rubber, palm oil and other traditional exports.

According to the Indonesian newspaper Kompas, the agreement between the countries allegedly provides for the transfer of technologies for repairing Su-35 fighters to Indonesia, so that they no longer need to be sent to Russia for repair. Totok Sugiharto told reporters that the signed contract should come into effect in August 2018, and the first two Su-35 fighters will arrive in Indonesia in August 2019. The next 6 aircraft are due to be delivered by February 2020, and the last 3 multi-role fighters will be delivered to Indonesia in July 2020.

Indonesia purchases Russian fighters to replace its own fleet of outdated American Northrop F-5E / F Tiger II fighters, which are in service with the 14th Squadron of the Indonesian Air Force, based at Iswahyudi Air Base (Madioun, Java). This squadron today nominally includes 8 F-5E fighters and 3 F-5F fighters. But in reality, according to the words of the head of the press service of the Indonesian Air Force Jamie Trisonjaya, according to the words of the press service of the Indonesian Air Force, Jamie Trisonjaya, for two years now, this squadron has not had a single flying machine in its composition, since the Northrop F-5E / F Tiger II fighters were previously recognized as unsuitable for flights.

Thus, Indonesia became the second foreign buyer of the modern Russian multifunctional Su-35 fighter after China. Earlier in November 2015, Beijing acquired 24 Su-35 aircraft (deliveries of fighters to China began in December 2016; by the beginning of 2018, 14 aircraft had been delivered). Serial production of the Su-35 multifunctional fighters is carried out by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Yu. A. Gagarin (a branch of PJSC Sukhoi Company).

Rosoboronexport supplied arms worth $ 2.5 billion to Indonesia

Rosoboronexport noted the high level of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Indonesia. In the period from 1992 to 2018, the Russian Federation supplied this republic with military products worth more than $ 2.5 billion. This is reported by the official website of "Rostec" with reference to the General Director of "Rosoboronexport" Alexander Mikheev.

In 2018, military-technical cooperation between the countries turned exactly 60 years old. Negotiations on the supply of Soviet weapons and military equipment to Indonesia began in 1957. In those years, the armed forces of Indonesia needed a total modernization, this was necessary to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. The first for export to Indonesia was the GAZ-69 SUV, which in 1957 managed to win a tender from Western competitors. In 1958, the first 100 vehicles were delivered for the needs of the Indonesian Air Force, and later - another 400 off-road vehicles for the ground forces. These 1958 vehicles are used by the Indonesian armed forces to this day.

In addition, the Indonesian navy was re-equipped with direct Soviet participation. In 1959, 4 destroyers were delivered to the country, which received the Indonesian names Sanjaya, Sultan Iskandar Muda, Savungaling and Silivangi, and two Project 631 submarines.

Later, after the collapse of the USSR, Russia already continued its military-technical cooperation with Indonesia. “In general, since November 1992, the total volume of deliveries of military products from Russia to Indonesia amounted to more than 2.5 billion US dollars. During this time, the Indonesian armed forces supplied Russian BMP-3F infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-80A armored personnel carriers, Kalashnikovs of the "hundredth" series, multifunctional fighters Su-27SK and Su-27SKM, Su-30MK and Su-30MK2, combat helicopters of the Mi type -17 and Mi-35, as well as other types of weapons and military equipment, "added Alexander Mikheev. In November 2018, Rosoboronexport will again act as the organizer of a single Russian exposition at this exhibition.

Russian Helicopters started certification of Ansat in China

In the context of an inevitable reduction in the state defense order, enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex need to increase the volume of supplies of civilian and dual-use products, including to international markets. In this vein, the modern Russian light twin-engine multipurpose helicopter Ansat has good prospects, including in the Chinese market.

The Russian Helicopters holding, which is part of the Rostec state corporation, together with representatives of the Federal Air Transport Agency held the first stage of negotiations with representatives of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAS). The topic of the negotiations is the certification of the Russian Ansat helicopter in the Celestial Empire. As a result of the meeting, the parties worked out a procedure for further actions. In the very near future, the CAAS delegation is going to visit Kazan Helicopter Plant - Kazan Helicopter Plant to get acquainted with the production of new Russian helicopters, the official website of the holding reports. In addition to China, the Russian Helicopters holding is currently negotiating the certification of this type of helicopter in Mexico, Brazil and Canada.

According to the Russian Helicopters holding, the delivery of the first Ansat helicopters to China is scheduled for 2018. It is reported that these will be helicopters with medical modules, while Chinese customers are showing interest in other modifications of the Russian helicopter. “That is why we and our colleagues from China still have a lot of work to do to certify the helicopter for the Chinese market,” noted Andrey Boginsky, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding.

Ansat is a light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter; its serial production has been launched at the Kazan Helicopter Plant. The helicopter model with a medical module was certified in May 2015. It is reported that this model meets all international standards for medical aviation, providing the possibility of saving human life during the transportation of victims. According to the certificate issued, the design of the multipurpose helicopter allows it to be quickly transformed into both a passenger and a cargo version with the ability to carry up to 7 people. The Russian Helicopters holding notes that the medical Ansat has a number of serious competitive advantages over foreign counterparts in its class. First of all, this is a lower cost of maintenance, repair and training. In addition, the Russian helicopter has the most spacious cockpit in its class and can reach a high flight speed, which makes it possible to use the helicopter for flights over sufficiently long distances.
