One of the most widely read newspapers in Poland, Rzeczpospolita, last Saturday published an article by Robert Kheda, in which the author decided to acquaint the Polish readership with the history of Russia, namely with the stage in the history of Ancient Rus. The material is dedicated to one historical person - Rurik, and it is around this historical image that the reasoning and conclusions of the author of the article "The war around Rurik: who was the creator of Russia?"
We, of course, are not a Polish audience, but if we are talking about the coverage of Russian history by foreign authors, then it will not be superfluous to get acquainted with what these same Polish authors offer for comprehension. Still, he writes about our history. Therefore, I think we have the right.
So, this material presents a translation of an article by Robert Kheda with some comments on the author's vision of the history of Ancient Russia.
Who is he and where did the founder of the Rurik dynasty come from? What role did he play in the creation of the first state of the Eastern Slavs, called Rus?
Further, the Polish author reports that he "knows for sure":
Here you need to make a small reference to the modern interpretation of events by Ukrainian historians, who created their own historiographic world with statements that no Murom existed in the Vladimir region at that time, and that "Ukrainian" historical "facts" testify, for example, about Ilya Muromets allegedly from Of the "eponymous" town near Kiev.
And speaking about the work of the Polish author, it is noticeable that he deliberately focuses on the question of “possible Polish roots of Rurik”.

And these are the results of the study of the DNA of the Rurikids, which are not cited by the Polish author: 11 out of 19 results - haplogroup N1c1 is (Finno-Ugric and Baltic group), seven - R1a1 - are Eastern Slavs, including Russians, and one - I2a2 - refers to the ancient paleo-European family.

Further, the Polish author, summing up, asks the question: is it possible for a consensus in the endless disputes about the origin of Rurik and how and where he got to the territory called Ancient Russia.
The material of the Polish author for the article is quite extensive, but the main thing in it is an attempt to cover several versions of Rurik's origin, and not focus on just one. That is why the material does not look one-sided, even if there is an attempt to pull by the ears the version about the “possible protopol” roots of the Rurikovichs.
