If you doubted the existence of real luxury armored vehicles, you can rest assured that they exist. These include the T-98 Kombat model - an armored SUV developed in Russia and intended for the transportation of VIPs, including in the combat zone. The car was designed in St. Petersburg by Dmitry Parfenov's design bureau in close cooperation with the AutoCad company, which has extensive experience in car booking. Today the T-98 "Combat" is one of the fastest armored SUVs in the world. Avtokad LLC has been designing and manufacturing armored vehicles for over 10 years, and Dmitry Parfenov's design bureau, which is part of its structure, has been creating promising vehicles since the late 1980s - early 1990s. In 1991, this design bureau became one of the first in the country to develop samples of promising armored vehicles: cash-in-transit and VIP-class. Among other things, the company provided services for the reservation of the customer's cars, including the executive class, using its own production facilities located on the territory of the Kirov plant in St. Petersburg.
One of the most famous developments of the company is a special purpose vehicle called "Combat", designed by Dmitry Parfenov's design bureau and built using a large number of foreign components. The car combines the advantages of an all-wheel drive jeep with the comfort of a limousine and "tank armor". The off-road qualities of this car are ensured by the use of reliable and high-quality components and assemblies from General Motors. At the time of its creation (early 2000s), the latest achievements of the automotive industry were used in the car. The SUV is supplied to customers with two main types of V8 engines: GM-Vortec 8, 1L with 400 hp.at 4200 rpm and a Duramax turbodiesel with a volume of 6, 6 liters and a power of 320 hp. at 3100 rpm. These motors are enough to accelerate a multi-ton car to a speed of 180 km / h, although the cruising speed of the car is well within the limits in force in Russia.
