For the movement and transportation of goods and people along the Arctic coast, not an ordinary vehicle is required, but a special vehicle that can work for a long time in harsh conditions. This tool is essential for Arctic exploration and the Coast Guard of the United States and Canada.
Artika today is a strategic direction - there are rich deposits of minerals and places rich in fish. Nowadays, there is a very limited number of machinery and equipment to realize the possibilities of conquering the Arctic.
The ARKTOS Craft company presented at a special event, which took place in the framework of equipping the coastal defense in the city of Barrow, Alaska, the machines it created - the Arktos all-terrain vehicles.
Arctic all-terrain vehicles are two-piece articulated vehicles. Two sections of separate type, made as one whole - an all-terrain vehicle, allow expanding the possibilities of its use. The machines have been produced since 1993. Six of these all-terrain vehicles, purchased for three million dollars, are already working for the oil company. The machine is controlled using a remote control that resembles a joystick.
All-terrain vehicles "ARKTOS" have already proven their versatility. The tests showed a high level of mobility when going from water to ice and vice versa. Due to its design, it has high maneuverability when driving on ice, crossing irregularities and slopes. The sections are made of reinforced plastic. Each section is separately powered by a diesel engine.
The ARKTOS all-terrain vehicle is capable of evacuating or moving up to 52 people or about 5 tons of bulky cargo to hard-to-reach places or up to 10 tons on a relatively flat surface or water.
All-terrain vehicles are produced in different versions for different tasks. The coast guard version of the all-terrain vehicle has slightly reduced sections, but has become more mobile.
In addition to this all-terrain vehicle, an amphibious all-terrain vehicle developed by Alaska Amphib together with Tyler Rentals was presented at the event. It is smaller than the ARKTOS ATV. "AmphibAlaska" is 6 meters long and weighs no more than 8 tons. It is designed to perform tasks on land and water at a speed of 30 km / h. The hull is an amphibious ship-type all-terrain vehicle, 12-inch tracks rise up when moving through the water.
The all-terrain vehicle was specially created for operation in coastal defense units located in Alaska. The amphibious all-terrain vehicle can be transported by air or surface to its destination.
Both all-terrain vehicles have water filters in their propulsion systems. Water in arctic latitudes can destroy / damage outboard motors / motors of conventional boats.
