The Sukhoi aircraft building company ranked second in the world in terms of the number of multifunctional fighters produced for export over the past 10 years.
“The share of Su fighters in the world market of new multifunctional fighters in 2000-2004 in quantitative terms amounted to 35.2%, in 2005-2009 - 29.5%. Over the past ten years, 437 aircraft have been exported: 240 in 2000-2004 and 197 in 2005-2009. As a result, Russia took second place after the United States,”says the report of the World Arms Trade Analysis Center on the world fighter market.
According to the experts of the center, in the conditions of the narrowing of the Chinese market, efforts were concentrated on diversifying the export of aircraft of the "Su" family. “A competent marketing policy has ensured high performance. Major contracts were signed with Malaysia, Indonesia, Algeria, Venezuela and Vietnam,”the study says.
In a number of these countries, Russia managed to win tenders amid the fiercest competition with the leading manufacturers of multifunctional fighters.
The first place in the world combat aircraft market, according to the calculations of TsAMTO experts, is occupied by the American company Lockheed Martin. The volume of its deliveries in 2000-2004 amounted to 300 units (44%), in 2005-2009 - 283 units (42.4%). The total volume of deliveries for ten years (2000-2009) reached 583 vehicles.
The third position is occupied by the Chinese corporation "Chengdu" (J-7, J-10, JF-17) - 56 units in 2000-2004 (8.2%) and 34 units (5.1%) in 2005-2009 (90 cars in total).
