"China Unveils Developed Anti-Aircraft Missile System and Main Battle Tank"
In the article about the Sky Dragon air defense complex, there is only a brief mention.
The first time Sky Dragon was mentioned (poster) in Kuala Lumpur at the DSA-2012 arms exhibition at PWTC.
Secondary (as mentioned in the referenced article) at Eurostory 2012
Based on the available publications in the press, I will try to provide a little more information.
This promising medium-range surface-to-air complex is the latest development of Norinco in the field of air defense.
The maximum firing range is 50 km, the interception height is from 30 m to 20 km.
The main tasks of Sky Dragon are object and field (military) defense against air targets.
It can effectively intercept medium, low and ultra-low air targets, i.e. aircraft, helicopters and UAVs, as well as detect and destroy cruise missiles.
Each battery consists of one ATC with IBIS150 3D target designation radar, ATC with a fire control center, from 3 to 6 launchers on a vehicle chassis. Each vehicle has 4 unmanned containers with missiles.
In this configuration, the Sky Dragon is capable of tracking up to 144 targets, hitting up to 12 different targets - when firing 12 self-guided missiles for several seconds (salvo fire).
The rocket is a single-stage solid propellant. No open data
Wang Cheng, Assistant General Manager for West Asia, NORINCO:
Known data on the IBIS150 3D radar: search, detection and CU in the range: Range: ≥ 130 km (over 130 km)
note: The photo shows the IBIS80 3D radar, most likely 150 based on it
Data for IBIS80 3D:
Using a high-bandwidth closed radio channel, launchers can be located up to 5 km from the vehicle with a fire control center.
Sky Dragon is completely autonomous and very mobile:
Each battery can operate both autonomously, using situational information from the IBIS150 radar, and integrated into an "intelligent" network, receiving information, target designation and launch commands from an external central command post
A vehicle equipped with a fire control center can operate two other Sky Dragon batteries - battalion mode.
Some similarities between the 4-container launcher Sky Dragon (China) and the 3-container launcher Babur LACM’s (Pakistan) on the new Missile Launch Vehicle (MLV):
Suggests a blasphemous thought:
"Didn't the Chinese venerate the development of the Babur LACM’s CD?", contrary to the MTCR.
It is unlikely that the Pakistani guys are so brave that they were able to "restore and study two partially damaged American Tomahawk RGM / UGM-109 cruise missiles, DISCOVERED in South Pakistan", to create a CD, and a launcher, and a launch vehicle …
