It is well known that in modern military conflicts one of the main strikes is delivered against the air defense means of the attacking side's aviation.
Today, the confrontation between aviation and air defense means is the main factor determining the further development of a military conflict.
In the context of an enemy air attack, the task of anti-aircraft missile systems is to destroy an aviation strike group and unmanned aerial vehicles attacking from low and high altitudes.
In order to accomplish these tasks in the face of constant electronic countermeasures, domestic developers have developed and launched into production the newest operational anti-aircraft complex "Buk-2M", which is armed with 9M317 guided missiles. The complex is being exported under the name "Buk-M2E".
Possessing high mobility, provided with multi-channel equipment with wide combat capabilities, the Buk-2M anti-aircraft missile system is intended to destroy:
- aircraft of strategic and tactical aviation;
- helicopters;
- aviation, cruise, tactical, ballistic missiles;
- unmanned aerial vehicles;
- aerial bombs.
The complex is also capable of shelling:
- ground and surface radar contrast objects;
SAM "Buk-2M" can function and perform assigned tasks both independently and as part of a group of air defense forces. Control is carried out by the ACS "Polyana-D4M1" of the anti-aircraft missile brigade with a mixed grouping or with the use of another ACS that is interfaced with the complex via exchange protocols.
The command post "Buk-2M" has the ability to process incoming information about the situation on 50 air targets. Processing takes place either in the existing SOC, or the SOC of a higher command post. Also, the command post of the "Buk-2M" complex, after processing the information, assigns targets for the RPN and SDU.
A fully equipped Buk-2M complex is capable of simultaneously destroying 24 air targets.
The area of the complex:
- 3-40 kilometers in range at a target speed of about 850 m / s;
- 45 kilometers in range at a target speed of about 300 m / s;
- the height of the defeat - 15-25000 meters;
- destruction of missiles at a distance of up to 20 kilometers;
- defeat of air bombs and air missiles at an altitude of 100-20000 meters;
- the probability of hitting enemy helicopters and aircraft up to 0.95;
- the probability of hitting tactical missiles up to 0.7;
- the probability of hitting cruise missiles up to 0.8;
- the probability of hitting helicopters in hover mode is up to 0.4.
The reaction time of the Buk-2M is about 11 seconds.
The 9M317 guided missile of the Buk-2M anti-aircraft complex uses an inertial method with electronic guidance correction, its own homing system is activated at the target exit area.
The complex is designed for all-weather use. Temperature range -50- + 50 degrees Celsius, with air humidity up to 98 percent.
The combat compartments have heating and air conditioning systems. The complex can be installed on a wheeled or tracked chassis with high cross-country ability.
The complete structure of the Buk-2M air defense missile system:
military equipment:
- 9M317 guided missiles;
- SOU 9A317 and 9A318;
- ROM 9A316 and 9A320;
control systems:
- command post 9С510;
- radar detection 9S18M1-3;
- "RPN" - radar guidance and illumination 9S36.
The Buk-2M 9K317 air defense missile system can use two types of firing sections:
- four sections for 1 ROM and 1 SDU with the possibility of simultaneous destruction of 4 targets with a terrain relief of 2 meters;
- two sections for 2 ROMs and 1 RPN with the possibility of simultaneous destruction of 4 targets with a terrain relief of 2 meters;
Installed chassis:
- SOU is installed on the tracked chassis GM-569;
- ROM - on the GM-577 tracked chassis;
- KP - on a tracked chassis GM-579 or road train 9001 on a wheeled chassis;
- detection radar - on the tracked chassis GM-567M;
- RPN - on tracked chassis or road train 9001 on wheeled chassis;
The Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant is engaged in serial production of the unique Buk-2M medium-range anti-aircraft missile system and its export version Buk-2M.
A whole range of work was carried out at the plant to reorganize technical processes and re-equip equipment to a more modern one. A workshop for the production of antenna systems was put into operation. Its own center for retraining and training of specialists has been created to train domestic and foreign specialists for conducting M&E of manufactured complexes.
