When military equipment is removed from service, it quite often goes on the free sale - naturally, demilitarized, in the form of civilian vehicles or all-terrain vehicles. They are sold both at regular car markets or auto sites, and on special resources "sharpened" for the sale of tanks and BRDMs. We decided to see what conversion armored cars can be freely purchased in our latitudes.

The main resources for the sale of conversion vehicles are the site of the Association of All-Terrain Vehicles, as well as the Girtek and Perspektiva companies. There are also a number of conversion companies, so if you want an armored car - here it is, in front of you. Only it is not cheap.

BRDM-2 (1963-1989). The second generation of the armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle is the most popular conversion model. First of all, this is due to the fact that it is relatively light and compact (body length - 5750 mm), easily converted into a civilian, and quite a lot of them were produced - more than 9400 pieces. Plus BRDM-2 is an amphibian, that is, a universal vehicle. There are many conversions, including those made in the luxury class. The picture shows the coolest conversion from Perspektiva, BRDM-2 Kirishi.

And this is her interior. In general, we will make a selection of the coolest BRDM-2 conversions in a separate article. BRDM-2 cost an average of 750,000 to 2,000,000 rubles, but the luxury versions, in principle, do not have an upper price limit.

BRDM-1 (1957-1966). It is also a fairly common car, but, of course, due to the prescription of production, it loses to the second generation. The BRDM-1 was built about 10,000 copies, in its external parameters after conversion and tuning it is almost identical to the BRDM-2. Most often, the BRDM-1 is not subjected to serious tuning and is sold in a basic, but updated conversion form. The cost starts at 980,000, since the car itself is rarer. BTR-80 (produced since 1984). This is a very serious technique - the famous armored personnel carrier, a successful model with a "KAMAZ" engine, which is in service with 26 states and is being produced to this day. BRT-80 is huge (body length - 7650 mm), heavy (13, 6 tons) and, in principle, hardly suitable for movement on public roads. The cost of the conversion version is also considerable - it starts on average from 2,750,000 rubles, but a good tuned version will not cost less than 7,500,000. To drive, you need a tractor driver's license of category AIV (A4). The picture shows the version with a canopy from the Association of All-Terrain Vehicles.

BTR-152 (1947-1962). Perhaps the rarest of the wheeled armored vehicles on conversion. More than 12,000 of them were produced, but a very long time ago, and almost all of them were liquidated and cut into metal. An armored personnel carrier based on the ZIS-151 has a length of 6,830 mm, weighs 8, 7 tons, and costs from 1,500,000 rubles. On sale, it is most often found without tuning. The picture shows a restored (just without tuning) version from "Girtek".

BTR-70 (produced since 1972). The most famous "Afghan" armored personnel carrier. Despite the appearance of a more advanced version of the BTR-80, it is still being produced and operated. A voluminous, heavy and gluttonous car weighing 11, 5 tons, is sold, in principle, freely, costs about 1,500,000 rubles. BTR-60 (1960−1987). The classic Soviet armored personnel carrier, the successor to the BTR-152 and the first 8-wheeled vehicle. It was this machine that set the layout, according to which the BTR-70 and BTR-80 were subsequently made. But it was much lighter - only 9, 9 tons with a similar (7650 mm) body length. It costs from 1,500,000 rubles, usually not in tuning, but simply in a restored conversion version. Photo from the site "Association of all-terrain vehicles".

T-70 (1941-1943). If someone does not have enough wheeled vehicles, then you can buy a tank. For example, the classic T-70 from World War II. You can't drive on the roads, but you can put it in the courtyard of the house as a museum exhibit or drive it off-road in the country. I must say that most of the tanks are not sold on the move, under "monuments", but the T-70 is found in a fully running demilitarized version. Costs from 5,000,000 rubles. MT-LB (produced since 1964). The classic multi-purpose military tractor is bought as an off-road truck or tractor. In the end, it does not require a serious conversion, since in the basic version it has nothing but one 7.62mm machine gun. More than 10,000 copies were released. Oddly enough, this car can be bought as a conversion "used", and completely new, release in 2016, right off the assembly line. A used one costs from about 1,100,000 rubles, a new one - from 3,000,000. The picture shows a version from "Girtek".

PTS-2 (produced since 1974). If you are looking for a conveyor with an amphibious option, then here is a medium floating conveyor, second generation. It costs more expensive MT-LB, from 2,700,000, but it has no restrictions on cross-country ability. In addition to asphalt roads - there are 24 of them, a 2-tonne carcass simply destroys.
