The cable is dispensed through the dispensing window in the lower frontal sheet of the hull. The towing device in the rear part of the hull allows you to tow equipment weighing up to 15 tons with a dead weight of 14.5 tons. On the roof of the aft part of the machine, a slewing support for a crane-boom with a lifting capacity of 2.5 tons is mounted. The BREM-CH machine is also equipped with electric welding equipment powered by a VG-700 generator.
The crew consists of 4 people and additionally equipped places for the transportation of the crew members of the evacuated equipment. The armament of the BREM-Ch consists of a 7.62-mm PTK machine gun with an ammunition capacity of 2,000 rounds.
BREM-D
The airborne, amphibious, armored recovery vehicle BREM-D was created on the basis of the BTR-D and is designed to evacuate damaged airborne combat vehicles from the enemy's fire zone to cover, evacuate stuck airborne combat vehicles and assist crews during their repair in the field. Field repairs are carried out by replacing faulty units, assemblies and parts, by repairing electrical equipment and electric welding.
To pull out stuck vehicles, the armored recovery vehicle BREM-D is equipped with a mechanical traction winch with a pulling force of 3.5 tons with a hydraulic drive. A 105 m long cable is pulled out through a special tool in the front bottom sheet of the hull. Here, on the lower frontal sheet, the opener-bulldozer is placed to carry out earthworks and ensure the fixed position of the machine when using a traction winch. The supporting device of the lifting crane with a lifting capacity of 1.5 tons is mounted on the roof of the middle part of the body at the left side. The crane is rotated using a hydraulic cylinder; a traction winch is used to lift the load. The power source for the electric welding equipment is the standard VG-7500 generator. The crew consists of three people, while the driver-mechanic acts as a crane operator and rigger, the commander is a fitter and welder, and the third crew member is an electrical equipment specialist.
For self-defense BREM-D in the left front part of the hull is equipped with a course 7, 62-mm PKT machine gun with ammunition of 1,000 rounds and 6 smoke grenade launchers on the starboard side.
BREM-K
The armored recovery vehicle BREM-K based on the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier has the same purpose as those described above, but works with damaged armored personnel carriers BTR-60, BTR-70, BTR-80 and their modifications. A demountable boom crane with a lifting capacity of 1.5 t is fixed on the front upper sheet of the machine body with the help of pins and is fixed in the raised position with cable ties.
The lifting of the load is carried out by a cable of the traction winch, passed through a hatch in the lower frontal sheet of the hull. The same winch with a pulling force of 4, 4 tons and a cable length of 75 m is used to pull out stuck equipment. The boom crane can also be mounted on the machine tower. In this case, a slewing crane is obtained (due to the rotation of the tower) with a manual winch with a lifting capacity of 0.8 tons. In the stowed position, the boom crane is attached to the left side of the machine body. To lock the BREM-K during crane operation and when pulling out stuck armored personnel carriers, there are two lowering openers on the lower frontal sheet of the hull. The source of the electric welding equipment is the GD-4003U2 generator. On the middle part of the roof of the hull there is a loading platform with a carrying capacity of 500 kg for the transportation of spare parts.
The BREM-K recovery vehicle inherited a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun in a turret with 1,500 rounds of ammunition from the BTR-80. The crew is 4 people.
BREM-1M
The armored recovery vehicle BREM-1M based on the T-90S tank is designed to work with tanks weighing up to 50 tons. The vehicle's crew consists of three people: a commander, a driver and a rigger. Tanks are towed on towing ropes or on a semi-rigid towing device with internal shock absorption. To pull out stuck tanks, the BREM-1M is equipped with a winch with a pulling force of up to 35 tons and a pulley block, with the use of which the pulling force of the winch increases to 140 tons. with an effort on the hook up to 530 kg (with a chain hoist - up to 1000 kg). The length of the cable for the auxiliary winch is 400 m.
For the removal and installation of units during the repair of damaged tanks, the recovery vehicle is equipped with a full-revolving boom crane with a lifting capacity of 20 tons (when retrofitted with a chain hoist - up to 26 tons). The maximum lifting height of the hook above the ground is 5, 98 m. It is possible to control the lifting crane using a remote control panel. For excavation work on opening shelters, clearing passages and securing the machine when working with a traction winch, a hydraulic-driven opener-bulldozer is installed on the BREM-1M.
To accommodate containers with tools, fixtures and spare parts, a cargo platform with a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons is installed on the roof of the machine body. The ESA-1 electric welding equipment for cutting and welding steel receives energy from the SG-18-1S starter-generator.
Armor BREM-1M - combined anti-cannonball. A large-caliber 12, 7-mm anti-aircraft machine gun NSVT with 840 rounds of ammunition is designed to combat lightly armored ground targets, enemy manpower, as well as to protect against attacks from the air. The BREM-1M repair and recovery vehicle also has thermal smoke equipment and equipment for overcoming water obstacles up to 5 m deep along the bottom.
BREM-L
The BREM-L floating armored recovery vehicle based on the BMP-3 is designed to work with infantry fighting vehicles. Carrying out lifting work on half-lifting of machines during evacuation or repair, replacement of components and assemblies (including fighting compartments and power units) is carried out using a crane installation with a lifting capacity of 5 tons (11 tons when using a chain hoist). The design of the crane installation allows you to move with a load on a hook within the repair site and replace your own power unit.
