Kirovsky Zavod assembled the first all-terrain vehicle - a cross-country vehicle of the Yamal project. According to design engineers from St. Petersburg, this machine is able to become one of the main vehicles used today in the Russian Far North for servicing gas pipelines and extinguishing fires. The first samples of the Yamal all-terrain vehicle were sent to the city of Nefteyugansk, located in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Here they will be used to transport fuel. The test drive of the all-terrain vehicle in real operating conditions is designed for 1, 5 months, after which the commission, which includes representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as large Russian companies Gazprom and Novatek, will make the final decision on the execution and volume of the future batch of vehicles.

Today Kirovsky Zavod is one of the largest Russian industrial enterprises located in the north-west of the country and has more than 210 years of history. Historically, the main activity of the plant is agricultural and construction engineering, metal rolling, metallurgy, power engineering, mechanical and metal working. This particular plant is the manufacturer of the famous Kirovets K-700 tractor, which has become a real breakthrough in the field of tractor engineering. The first tractor was produced back in 1962, but even now, 50 years later, after a series of modernizations, this tractor is still in demand on the market.

The main production units of the Kirov Plant are engaged in the production of products for agriculture and the fuel and energy complex, industrial, road and civil construction, nuclear energy, the oil and gas sector, utilities and forestry, railway transport, shipbuilding and the defense sector. In 2009, this industrial enterprise was included in the List of strategic enterprises in Russia. Today, the finished products of JSC Kirovsky Zavod are exported to more than 20 countries around the world.

The chassis of the all-terrain vehicle of the Yamal project produced by the Petersburg Tractor Plant (a subsidiary of the Kirovsky Zavod OJSC) is classified as a cross-country vehicle. These vehicles are intended for transportation of people and goods in the conditions of bumpy roads and off-road conditions on waterlogged and low-bearing soils of the taiga and tundra. The Yamal wheeled all-terrain vehicle is able to overcome fords up to 1.5 meters deep without any preparation, and also, in the case of preparatory work, overcome water obstacles up to 2 meters deep.

The all-terrain vehicle uses special low-pressure tires. The use of such tires (ground pressure at the level of 300 g / cm2) provides the Yamal all-terrain vehicle with a higher level of cross-country ability in comparison with vehicles on a caterpillar track. At the same time, the new Russian all-terrain vehicle is able to transport almost 3 times more oil products with less fuel consumption than tracked tankers used today. Due to its unique technical characteristics and design features, the Yamal all-terrain vehicle is not only one of the most reliable and highly passable vehicles in its class, but also an economical, environmentally friendly and most comfortable off-road vehicle. The cost of the Yamal chassis with a 215 hp diesel engine installed on it. with. is approximately 5 million rubles. On this chassis, tanks, fire pumps, workshops, various manipulators, shift buses, and other necessary equipment can be mounted.

The chassis of all-terrain vehicles of the Yamal project was designed and manufactured by the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant by order of Yamalspetsmash LLC. The current contract provides for the supply of 3 pilot samples of the all-terrain vehicle in the performance of "tractor", "dump truck" and "tank". The decision to use the products of the St. Petersburg manufacturer Yamalspetsmash LLC was largely due to the fact that the chassis of the famous Kirovets tractor is very widespread in the Russian Far North. This chassis has proven itself perfectly in very difficult operating conditions, in total off-road conditions. It is as durable and reliable as possible in comparison with other types of equipment.

The articulated frame of all-terrain vehicles of the Yamal project increases the efficiency of torque transmission, and also allows the use of special wide-profile tires, the use of which is impossible on a chassis with a frame structure. The chassis of the Yamal all-terrain vehicle is suitable for the installation of a wide range of different equipment: manipulators, towers for servicing power lines, fire pumps, shift workshops and buses, etc. The preliminary demand for vehicles based on the Yamal chassis is determined by the customer at the level of 100 vehicles per year …

At the moment, the first chassis produced for this project is already in operation in Nefteyugansk. It is used to transport fuel in forest-tundra and taiga conditions. After 45 days of trial operation, the commission must determine the volume of the order for these cars. Currently, it is reported about a preliminary reached agreement for the supply of 20 Yamal chassis in the modification of the "tractor" and another 20 chassis that will be used for the transportation of fuel. In parallel with this, the issue of a possible increase in the order due to purchases of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, which is currently in dire need of all-terrain vehicles that could be used to extinguish fires in the Russian tundra, is being addressed.

Heavy all-terrain vehicles "Yamal" with an articulated frame

It should be noted that the use of an articulated frame provides Yamal all-terrain vehicles with a number of significant advantages. In particular, such machines, in comparison with their frame counterparts, have a significantly smaller turning radius, low center of gravity, ideal weight distribution along the axes, track-to-track movement, the possibility of using wide wheels with a large contact area with the surface, which has a positive effect on the machine's cross-country ability. …

The range of all-terrain vehicles of the Yamal platform is currently represented by the following machines:

- "B-6" (wheel arrangement 6x6). This is a three-axle all-terrain vehicle with a curb weight of up to 12 tons and the same carrying capacity on weak soils;

- "B-4" (wheel arrangement 4x4). Two-axle all-terrain vehicle "Yamal", with a curb weight of up to 11 tons and a carrying capacity of up to 9 tons on weak soils.

Both models will be produced in St. Petersburg at a joint production facility organized on the basis of CJSC Petersburg Tractor Plant, the machines will be produced under the Kirovets-Yamal brand. It is planned that the plant will assemble cars in the following versions: a tank, a fuel tanker, a fire truck with a vacuum system for fast water intake from reservoirs, a drilling rig, and a rotational vehicle. It is also possible to install a crane-manipulator installation (CMU) and replaceable modules of the "mobile laboratory" type, as well as other equipment on this chassis. Thus, the use of a structure with an articulated frame will make it possible to deliver people and any types of cargo, as well as special equipment, even to the most inaccessible places where there are no public roads.

The main advantage of the Kirovets-Yamal and Yamal all-terrain vehicles should be the availability of standard replaceable units and assemblies, a high level of maintainability, as well as the complete service provided by the manufacturer for the entire range of vehicles based on this chassis.
