Eugene S. spent a year and a half in the army, but the service itself took only two months. After completing the course of a young soldier, he and several colleagues were sent to the "subsidiary farm", where he was kept for more than a year. In matters of trade in soldier labor, according to human rights activists, officers of military unit No. 12670 of the railway troops, stationed in Volgograd itself, are especially successful. According to Order No. 78 of the Commander of the RF Railway Forces, Colonel-General G. Kogatko, military units can be involved on a contractual basis “in educational and practical work on the construction, reconstruction and repair of railway lines and facilities. The resulting profit is used to repair military camps, purchase medicines, subscribe to newspapers and magazines, improve the nutrition of military personnel, and cultural and educational events."
The organization of parents of military personnel "out of pure curiosity" decided to check how many soldiers are sent from military unit No. 12670 to various jobs every day. To this end, several people, armed with cameras and a video camera, arrived in the morning at the checkpoint and witnessed an interesting picture.
