China is developing a ballistic missile that, according to experts, can damage large ships - including aircraft carriers of the US Navy

According to the US Naval Institute on its website, China is close to creating a ballistic missile capable of hitting American ships at a distance of up to 2,000 kilometers. The military found this information on one of the blogs that American experts consider to be a reliable source.

Work on the creation of this weapon was carried out in China for several years. The new missile, according to military experts, was developed on a base designed to destroy ground targets of the Dongfeng 21 missile.

The "Carrier Assassin", as the Pentagon dubbed it, is capable of carrying a warhead, the destructive force of which can destroy the largest ships in one hit.

The new missile reflects all the most advanced developments in the field of ballistic weapons. Targeting is carried out with the help of a satellite; during the flight, it is capable of making maneuvers that are unpredictable for anti-missile defense means. The aircraft carrier killer needs only 12 minutes to cover a distance of 2000 kilometers.

This message has already caused concern among the US military. According to some of them, the United States will have to reconsider the strategy of the fleet in the light of the emerging threats. Experts also fear that ballistic missiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Anatoly Sokolov, editor-in-chief of the Arms of Russia portal, shared his opinion with Izvestia: “Given the listed characteristics, the new Chinese missile is indeed capable of hitting an aircraft carrier. increasing the anti-missile defense of aircraft carriers. When a Chinese missile is equipped with a nuclear warhead, it can be assumed that the ship will be hit with one hundred percent probability."

Perhaps we are talking about the borrowing of the Chinese military technology, which the USSR tried to introduce at one time. Then it was planned to use a ballistic missile as a carrier, which would bring several cruise missiles into the combat zone. It was assumed that the carrier will be programmed for a specific area where the paths of American aircraft carriers run. After separation, cruise missiles (type "Mosquito" with a range of up to 150 kilometers) would homing at enemy warships and hit them. "Mosquitoes" could carry up to half a ton of warheads, which guaranteed that if several of them hit the aircraft carrier, irreparable damage would be inflicted on it. Later, the Soviet Union abandoned such a project due to its high cost. At one time, the Chinese acquired Moskit missiles from Russia. And it cannot be ruled out that the Soviet idea formed the basis for the anti-ship weapons being created in the PRC now.
