Yes, all of this can be counted in the category of peremogi. A number of media outlets, referring to sources from the Ministry of Defense, happily reported that "domestic industrialists, suppliers and the fleet continue to work in the sanctions regime, diversifying the supply of engines."

It is very difficult to say what the industrialists are doing there, since these are the people who should, in theory, equip our warships with domestic engines. If I am wrong, then I can and should be corrected.

But this is not what this is about, because I personally do not understand at all what these "industrialists" have to do with it. And where does the import substitution to heap.

The point is that European diesel engines are no longer sold to us. This is how all the cries of the media subordinate to the Ministry of Defense are translated about the fact that "we are leaving European manufacturers." No, we are really leaving them, because the sanctions, and we were actually left without engines by these manufacturers. And so, yes, we are leaving.

The experiment with Chinese-made diesels, let's say, ended as expected from Chinese-made diesels. Numerous failures and breakdowns. But there was absolutely nowhere to go, we have a very rich choice: either we put on Chinese engines, or we play with the oars. Since we are not yet (I hope so far) in a position to release a domestic engine.

And here is the real light at the end of the tunnel. Two Russian shipbuilding plants, KAMPO and Pella, will immediately receive diesel engines from the Korean company Doosan.

Doosan is serious. It is the third largest manufacturer of heavy construction and mining equipment in the world. Third after Caterpillar and Komatsu.

But we are, of course, interested not in construction and road equipment, but in marine diesel engines.

Therefore, in the Doosan structure, we will look in a different direction, perhaps even better known to us.

So, Doosan is primarily a chaebol. That is, an industrial conglomerate under the financial control of a group of people united by family ties. A family that controls a group of formally independent firms.

Actually, almost everything that we see in our market from Korea (except for pickled carrots, and even then I'm not sure) is the product of the activities of chaebols, which hold more than half of the market. These are Samsung, LG Group, GS Group, Hyundai, SK Group, Daewoo.

Familiar name in shipbuilding, isn't it Daewoo?

That's right, but if you still look at the year 1976, when the Doosan chaebol founded Daewoo Insdustrial Co., Ltd., which is now known as Daewoo International Corporation …

Yes, Daewoo has gone just a long way in its development, and if anyone remembers, a sad ending. Brought, in short.

But that is why this peculiar clan-family system exists. Some of the firms that make up Daewoo have moved from a relatively free voyage to the friendly but tough hand of the Doosan chaebol.

In 2005, Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery became part of Doosan Infracore Corporation. And the products are manufactured under the Daewoo-Doosan brand.

And today Doosan is ready to supply its diesel engines for Russian military boats. For now, only for boats, I hope the appetite will come with eating, and we will have engines for ships of larger classes.

In the meantime, "CAMPO" and "Pella" are dancing with happiness. The boats of the project 23370M and 03160 (these are the "Raptors") receive motors that are at least no worse than diesel engines from IVECO, with which we were broken off.

They even say that it is better. In "KAMPO" they say that the boats of the 23370M project can even become faster than on engines from IVECO.

How the Raptors will feel when replacing Caterpillar engines with Doosan-Daewoo is not yet clear, but I am sure that something will come to us.

Sad to be honest.

It is clear that we will no longer see European and American engines for warships and border guards. But the essence of the sanctions must be traced deeper. The fact that the South Korean concern decided to do us good is, of course, not bad.

The bad news is that South Korea's strategic partner is not China, not Russia, but the United States. And how the Americans know how to impose their line of conduct on their partners has long been known. So it's hard to say how much the Americans will like this trick and how long Korean diesel engines will be registered in our fleet.

So, if you seriously look at the problem, then we still have a temporary respite.

And in the future, either a return to Chinese engines, to which there are already a lot of claims, or …

Or, after all, our so-called industrialists should remember that industry is the kind of structure that produces. Including engines. Including for ships.

To buy, of course, is not bad. If you have anything and if you have someone. The second part of the question is the most essential today.

And it is very important for us to have our own engines for everything: ships, boats, ships, submarines, tanks and aircraft. The question is, as it were, in the security and independence of the country.
