The Ural automobile plant (part of the GAZ group, the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk region) plans to submit a prototype vehicle for the army to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation by April 1, 2011, the general director of the automobile plant Viktor Korman said on Tuesday.

"Currently, we are developing a new army vehicle according to the technical assignment of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. A prototype of the vehicle will be presented by April 1, 2011. It will be a new generation vehicle that meets all modern requirements," Korman told reporters.

According to him, the new car will have a reinforced aggregate base.

Korman said that at present armies in 40 countries of the world have cars on the platform, which are produced by the Ural automobile plant. According to him, this year about 15% of the supplies of vehicles are exported.

"In 2011, the plant plans to double its export supplies," he added.

The Ural Automobile Plant was founded in 2001 as a result of the restructuring of the UralAZ production complex. The company is part of the GAZ Group and is the main asset in the Trucks division. The division also includes OJSC URALAZ-Energo and LLC Social Complex, located in Miass, Chelyabinsk Region, as well as OJSC Saransk Dump Truck Plant. The enterprise employs 13, 8 thousand people. Due to the economic crisis, the volume of production in 2009 is only 39.2% of the 2008 level.
