The police in Rio de Janeiro received the Russian armored car GAZ-2330 "Tiger", ITAR-TASS agency reported, citing Oleg Strunin, a representative of Rosoboronexport in Brazil.
According to him, "the authorities of a number of Brazilian states are now showing interest in the Tiger; the possibility of assembling Russian armored vehicles in Brazil is being discussed," ITAR-TASS notes.
According to TSAMTO, under the requirements of the Brazilian police, two prototypes of the GAZ-2330 "Tiger" armored vehicles were manufactured, which were planned to be sent to the customer in July-August this year for comprehensive tests, after which we can talk about the purchase of a consignment.
In addition to Brazil, on the Latin American continent, negotiations on the supply of Tiger armored vehicles are underway with Argentina and Venezuela.
In particular, the national gendarmerie of Argentina is negotiating the purchase of an initial batch of 10-15 multipurpose armored vehicles GAZ-2330 "Tiger". After assessing possible procurement options, the command of the Argentine gendarmerie came to the conclusion that, all other things being equal, the cost of the Russian proposal is lower than the proposals of other armored vehicle manufacturers, including the French Panhard.
Since the basic version of the "Tiger" uses a foreign-made engine, the supply of this machine to the market goes through the police departments, and not through the defense ministries.
In addition to the aforementioned countries, negotiations on the supply of armored vehicles "Tiger" are underway with the police departments of Jordan, Israel and India. A contract with China is underway.
The export potential of the Tiger will be significantly increased by the Tiger-M version. This machine is equipped with a Russian engine and Russian components. Taking into account the operation of the Tiger armored vehicles, the Tiger-M version has been significantly improved.
At the end of this year, it is planned to begin deliveries of the first Tiger-M armored vehicles for the power structures of Russia.
Further development of the "Tiger" family is the line of new armored vehicles "Wolf". Tests of these machines are scheduled for completion this fall.
