The idea of creating a psychotronic weapon rattled the minds of many. Scientists tried to invent such a weapon, while politicians and the military dreamed of what force they would prevail. The first attempts were unsuccessful, mainly due to the massiveness of such a structure, which made the mobility of such weapons unrealistic. This continued until the early 1980s. So far, smart heads have not figured out how to do calculations using not one, but several generators. The structure became compact (it could fit in two trucks), therefore, the country finally received a powerful weapon.
The first mobile installations of microwave radiation with directional infrasonic generators appeared in 1983. As you might guess, Afghanistan became a field for experiments. At that time, various military "novelties" were tested in this long-suffering country.
There are eyewitness accounts of those terrible experiments. Here, for example, is one of them: “How“spirits”ran out of the alarmed anthill from the caves. Our detachment let them get closer and opened fire with bursts of machine guns. Bodies fell in piles. Some of them huddled deep in the cave, we later found them - dead … Some of them smashed their heads on stones - they thought they would help. On our side, there were no losses!"
On the part of scientists, there is such an explanation about the properties of such weapons: “Radio frequency radiation can disrupt the work of the brain and the central nervous system (central nervous system). For some time, the body breaks down, a person hears the oppressive sounds of hum and whistle, internal organs are affected … A weapon with a low level of infrasound power can cause unconscious fear or create panic in the crowd …”.
For warfare on smooth terrain, infrasonic emitters were installed on armored vehicles. It is not known for certain what exactly was used then to smoke the Mujahideen from shelters, but it is known that GAZ-66 trucks with kungs and sweeping antennas were there. Most likely, these were microwave generators.
Another well-known use of this type of weapon was during the First Chechen War. Eyewitnesses talk about "Cheburashkas" - long-distance communication antennas, so named because of the non-standard location on the armored personnel carrier. The antennas were laid on their side in the shape of a "figure eight". When an enemy sniper appeared from the commander's armored personnel carrier, such an antenna would rise and send a signal towards the Chechen sniper. A few hours later, the sniper was out of action for good - his cornea became cloudy.
