Structurally included in the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Rostek" OJSC "Design Bureau of Instrument Making named after. Academician A. G. Shipunova "is engaged in the production of reliable and effective anti-tank missile systems, as well as grenade launchers and stationary guns. Among other things, the company is developing support launchers that allow firing from the shoulder, according to the website
Since the 80s of the last century, the design bureau has been noted for such a development as the 93-mm RPO "Shmel". At the same time, the association also led the development of devices for firing practice for the RPG-7 grenade launcher.
Its brainchild, namely the Bumblebee jet flamethrower, JSC KBP decided to undergo significant modernization, which would allow this type of weapon to effectively fight against modern technical means of the enemy. The original modernized version of the Bumblebee received a new name: the RPO-M PDM-A Bumblebee infantry flamethrower of increased range and power.
It was this version that served as the basis for the development of a small-sized grenade launcher system, which was demonstrated in our country during the INTERPOLITEX exhibition. The first demonstration took place last autumn (2013). After high marks from Russian experts, it was decided to demonstrate this weapon at the European exhibition "EUROSATORY-2014", held in Paris. Specialists who visited this exhibition were able to see a new development of the Russian JSC KBP - a small-sized grenade launcher complex "Bur".
The main purpose of MGK "Bur" is the ability to defeat enemy manpower, and it can also be used to damage equipment protected by light armor or not having armor protection. Such a complex is also effective in case of damage to various kinds of structures.
The "Bur" has two main components. It is a device for launching ammunition, as well as a self-contained housing for a rocket engine.
The trigger device consists of a trigger, a pistol grip, a manual safety, a forearm with an ergonomic ribbed structure, a special mounting bracket for integration into various types of optical sights.
Using the same brackets, you can install laser rangefinders. The rocket motor housing is made of fiberglass. The weapon is designed for an aiming range of up to 650 meters. The maximum firing range of the "Bura", declared by the developers of the MGK "Bur", is 950 m for 62 mm ammunition.
The small-sized grenade launcher "Bur" is prepared for the use of two types of ammunition. These are high-explosive fragmentation grenades, as well as thermobaric grenades. The latter type of ammunition is characterized by the creation of an extreme temperature in a certain volume of space and a sufficiently powerful blast wave. The high temperature and the blast wave make it possible to inflict significant damage on enemy infantry, as well as destroy fortifications, and disable equipment.
The total length of the Russian manufacturer's small-sized grenade launcher is 742 mm. The maximum weight of such a weapon is 5 kg. The minimum is 4.5 kg. The difference in weight is due to the use cases of the optical equipment.
These parameters indicate that the "Bur" today can be considered one of the most compact, lightweight and, as a result, convenient grenade launcher systems. It can be used in a variety of environments. One of the options is to strike the enemy from an enclosed space. The estimated volume of such a room should not be less than 30 cubic meters.
The minimum firing range of the Bura is about 25 meters.
To recharge the complex, the following procedure is used: the installation is placed in a new engine housing when removed from an empty housing.
If we talk about technological analogs, then we can touch on the German "Panzerfaust 3". This is an anti-tank grenade launcher, which reloads according to the same principle that was used to reload the Bur grenade launcher. In principle, this is where all the analogies between the Bura and Panzerfaust 3 end, except for the options for using ammunition.
The manufacturer offers a special rucksack bag for carrying spare rocket engine casings to MGK "Bur". This bag can hold three spare cases.
