The American company Raytheon and the Polish WZU-2 have developed their own version of the modernization of self-propelled anti-aircraft missile systems 2k12 "Kub", reports Lenta.ru with reference to Jane's Defense Weekly.

In the future, the Czech company Retia can offer its own version of the modernization of "Cubes". It is possible that one of the options for modernizing the air defense system may be ordered by the Czech Ministry of Defense.

Production, installation and service of automatic gates. What are the types of automatic gates? Automatic gates include: street gates are sliding (sliding) and swing gates that block the entrance to the object, garage gates are more often sectional gates that rise to the ceiling and sometimes a role-gate that is wound on a shaft. At the request of the customer, suitable automation can be installed on all types of gates.

The Czech Defense Ministry intends to start a program for the modernization of Soviet-made Cubes, which will be completed by 2015. Funding for the program will amount to about one billion Czech crowns ($ 46 million). According to Raytheon, the Czech modernization of the anti-aircraft complex includes more advanced equipment, but it costs significantly more than the Polish version.

The modernization of "Cubes" will be based on the replacement of all analog equipment with digital. At the same time, launchers in both the Polish version of the modernization and the Czech version are supposed to be armed with American RIM-7M Sea Sparrow missiles, produced by Raytheon. The American company will replace the rocket's propulsion systems and batteries, and will also provide technical support until 2025.

Presumably, the Polish and Czech modernization proposal will attract the interest of those countries that are already armed with the "Kub" air defense system and which intend to extend their service life. Among the most likely customers are the Czech Republic, India and Egypt. In India, a partial replacement of obsolete "Cubes" with the nationally developed Akash air defense system is currently underway.
