The development of a promising long-range aviation complex (PAK DA) will take 15-20 years, new aircraft will be built in Kazan, the newspaper "Vzglyad" reports. This was stated by the President of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Alexei Fedorov.
“We have already started thinking together with our main customer, the Ministry of Defense, about new models of strategic bombers and long-range aircraft. Of course, a lot of time will be spent on creating a fundamentally new aircraft. It will probably take 15, maybe 20 years,”said Fedorov.
At the same time, according to Fedorov, in order for the aviation industry to be ready to produce new aircraft in 15 years, "we need to start now."
“We need to start thinking about the concept of this aircraft, to determine the basic technologies, new components that will be used in this aircraft,” Fedorov said.
According to him, the new aircraft will be built at the Kazan Aviation Production Association, where Tu-160 strategic bombers were previously produced.
