64L6 "Gamma-S1" is a 3-coordinate, centimeter-range survey type radar. This radar was built to replace the rangefinder-altimeter complex with the P-37 radar station, and the PRV altimeters - (13/16). The creation of a mobile Gamma-C1 was entrusted to the Gorky NIIRT. According to the project, the radar was to be used as an inter-service BR station in air defense units and the Air Force. When creating a mobile radar, a sample of the station participated in the course of air defense exercises. The Gamma-C1 was delivered to the defense of the fatherland in 2003, the radar went into serial production. "Gamma-C1" is made at the Murom plant of radio measuring equipment. JSC "PZRA" and "VNIIRT" are involved in the production. The trial operation of the 64L6 radar was successfully completed in the Moscow branch of RTV. The designers have laid in the radar a large supply for modernization. Some sources in the 90s called this radar -96N6E "Gamma-C1E". According to the results of tests carried out before serial production, the radar showed that it fully complies with the specified characteristics:

- detects and measures three coordinates of air objects;

- quickly determines the nationality of the detected objects;

- accurately recognizes targets by class;

- determines goniometric and azimuth bearings to objects of active interference;

- issues digital information to information display devices.

The antenna component of the radar is installed on the M-1 vehicle and is a flat phased antenna array (PAR), which electronically scans the receiving and transmitting beams along the directional pattern in the vertical plane. The implementation of the sequential survey allows the radar to control the radiated energy by the software method. The transmitting device uses a modern Russian electrovacuum device - a broadband multibeam klystron with a high output power and a high degree of reliability. In terms of basic characteristics, it is not inferior to the best world analogues. All "Gamma-C1" equipment is highly automated in detecting airborne objects and selecting an operating mode. The operating mode is selected based on the processed data of the situation by the operator or automatically.

Digital data processing takes place in the equipment installed on the M2 car. Digital processing equipment provides:

- detection of air objects in automatic mode;

- tracking or capturing objects in automatic or semi-automatic modes;

- selection of operating modes using automatic or semi-automatic control;

- autodetection of state ownership;

- collection and delivery of data to information display devices.

All active and passive interference is automatically suppressed by the radar equipment. The radar has high adaptability and selectivity in conditions of various types of jamming. This efficiency is ensured by:

- a small in power, but long in duration emitted pulse;

- low level in the directional pattern of the side lobes;

- changing the frequency of repetitions and the duration of the emitted signal when scanning space using the elevation method;

- automatic gain control;

- automatic dynamic range control;

- stabilization of false alarms;

- operation of autocompensation equipment with ACP;

- the use of preset modes to protect against special interference;

- using Doppler filtering;

The radar has an automated performance monitoring system for continuous diagnostics (95% reliability) and issuing information on the operability of all elements of the radar. The equipment has a block-modular structure, which facilitates repair - there is a block-by-block replacement of the necessary elements. The radar operating modes can be launched from complexes of computing means or at the request of the operator. It is possible to control the radar from a remote protected operator's place, at a distance of up to 1000 meters via fiber optic and at a distance of up to 15000 meters via a radio link. The radar is based on an automobile chassis.
