Technological progress was simply obliged to do something that would transfer the sapper from the category of disposable. There are special suits, which have been tested not only at the training grounds, and new equipment.
The first sign, an assistant in the sapper business, was the robotic complex "Uran-6", about which a lot has already been said and on the case.
The complex came out operational and went through a combat run-in both in the mountains of the Chechen Republic and in Syria. After that, as representatives of the engineering troops said, changes were made to the design in terms of air intake and filtration. In fact, it turned out a desert version of "Uranus", not afraid of sand and dust.
And here's the next step. In the direction of increasing everything.
BMR-3MA.
A well-known demining unit, but improved in the spirit of the times.
The main difference is that the "brains" from "Uranus" have slightly modified and equipped this whopper with them. Today BMR-3MA can be operated by one operator, at a considerable distance. If you want to implement the all-inclusive program, you need an assistant.
The machine now has three modes of operation:
- crew;
- with remote control;
- programmable.
With the crew mode, everything is clear.
Remote control of this mastodon is carried out from the remote control by operators at a distance of up to 3 kilometers. Moreover, almost without losing the speed of work.
The trawling speed is the same as with the crew - 12 km / h.
The machine can also be guided by operators on a dirt road extension path. Speed up to 25 km / h (with a "live" crew - up to 40 km / h).
On highways, the BMR moves only under the control of the crew.
The third mode is programmable. Everything is simple here, but it takes more time to prepare. Maps of the terrain are entered into the memory of the computer controlling the machine and routes of advance and trawling are laid. And the BMR independently, according to the data laid down, moves to the place of commencement of work, turns on the trawl and related systems and begins trawling.
Operators can make, if necessary, changes to the operation of the complex.
This mode is especially useful in places where the enemy can carry out radio-technical countermeasures, jam the range in which the vehicle is being controlled.

The difference from the basic model BMR-3M is exclusively in the electronic filling.
All the same base from the T-90, only the armoring of the bottom is more strengthened and the V-92S2 engine with a capacity of 1000 hp is installed. with.
The BMR-3MA is equipped with a complex of mounted dynamic protection "Contact".
It is logical, since, for example, unlike the ARV, which is in a closure when the columns move, the minesweeper goes first in the convoy and collects not only mines, but is also the first target for various anti-tank weapons, both manual and not very.
The means of communication and observation are similar to those of the BMR-3M (R-123M radio station, an X-ray radiometer and a GO-27 chemical analyzer, two built-in night vision devices without external illumination 1PN63M are installed to monitor the radio and chemical situation).

For the crew, more precisely, for the convenience of work, the BMR-3M has a filter-ventilation unit for operation in contaminated areas, as well as an air conditioner, which makes it possible to operate normally at an ambient temperature of up to + 65 ° C.
Additionally, the fighting compartment has a dry closet and a food warmer. Taken together, all BMR-3M equipment is capable of providing up to three days of autonomous crew stay in the vehicle.
In general, a serious step forward compared to the past. The journey from a dipstick and mine detector to a 40-ton remote controlled mine clearance machine is a long journey.
