One of the new vehicles for the Russian army is the Tiger armored car. After getting acquainted with these products of the GAZ automobile plant, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin was delighted and said that the "Tiger" could well be produced in a civilian version. Off-road vehicles of the army series, by the way, often migrated from the military sphere to the civilian sphere. Suffice it to recall the famous UAZ-469, which has been and continues to be operated by many armies of the world, and its modification Hunter has now become an indispensable assistant for those who are accustomed to overcome road difficulties using similar military-type equipment.

If we talk about the history of the 469th UAZ, then it starts from the beginning of the 60s. The development of the car was carried out at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. In 1962, the factory workers implemented a prototype, which, however, did not go into mass production. Only at the end of 1972, new cars began to be produced in a mass version. Prior to this, the famous GAZ-69 was the king of the Soviet army in terms of transporting representatives of the command staff. For more than 20 years he served regularly, having received a series of nicknames - from "Goat" to "Gazik". One of the developers of the GAZ-69 is the designer F. A. Lependin. This military vehicle was also used for civilian purposes. It could be seen as the official vehicle of the chairmen of collective and state farms, nomenklatura officers in the cities of the USSR.

The car was produced at GAZ only for 3 years: from 1951 to 1953, and then its production was transferred to Ulyanovsk, where in 1972 it lost its position to UAZ-469. The design of the UAZ-469 was, to put it mildly, uncomplicated. There was no question of any comfort in this car for the driver and passengers, although the comfort in military vehicles in Russia is still far from all right (if we consider the same "Tiger"). Albert Rakhmanov was involved in the development of the design of the UAZ-469, and, admittedly, this design has firmly entered the mass consciousness. Today in Russia there is no such person who would not distinguish this UAZ from other car models of SUVs. This may indicate design success. The engine power of the military car was 75 "horses", and the fuel consumption reached 17 liters per 100 km, although in Soviet times the least attention was paid to the consumption. UAZ-469 is a seven-seater vehicle that could also tow a trailer weighing up to 850 kg.
