Automatic rifle "QBZ 95" - intended for use in the armed forces of China as a personal weapon. The assault rifle is also known as the TYPE 95.
History of "QBZ 95"
In the 80s of the last century, the military department opens a program for the creation of a domestic cartridge with a small recoil impulse and, accordingly, the design of weapons with its use.
The Chinese specialists developed the cartridge 5.8x42-mm, it was named "DBP87".
As the developers point out, the cartridge is superior in terms of the main characteristics of firing cartridges 5.56 × 45-mm, 5.45x39-mm. The cartridge was designed for "TIP 87", which is a modernized version of "TIP 56" with some changes to improve the accuracy of firing. "TYPE 56" is a licensed copy of a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
The TIP 87 assault rifles and machine guns were produced in limited quantities and entered service with a number of special units.
The first serial weapon using the new low-impulse ammunition was the TIP 88 sniper rifle. The QBU 88 was produced in a bullpup layout. "TYPE 88" turned out to be a successful solution, on its basis they began to develop automatic weapons, one of which is the "QBZ-95" assault rifle.
After a series of successful tests in 95, the ShV QBZ-95 entered service with the Chinese armed forces. The assault rifle appeared in public in 1997 after the return of Hong Kong under Chinese control, when the Chinese garrison of Hong Kong was fully armed with the QBZ-95 SHV.
Main components of QBZ-95
The TYPE 95 replaced the outdated TYPE 81 assault rifle, which is a modernized AK-47 with a 7.62x39 mm ammunition caliber.
The rifle is a fully automatic weapon with a shortened piston stroke.
The rotary bolt completely covers the barrel by three stops. Above, on the receiver, under the holding handle, the bolt cocking handle is located. Thanks to the trigger mechanism based on the AK-47 USM, the rifle can conduct both single and automatic firing. The translator of the choice of shooting itself is located on the right side of the rifle on the rear of the rifle body.
The order of the firing modes remained unchanged and corresponds to the firing order of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, which is not entirely typical for modern automatic assault rifles. As with the AK, there was also an additional choice of shooting in a small burst of three rounds.
The receiver is made of aluminum alloys, the body of the rifle is made of durable plastic.
Based on the bullpup layout, a magazine with cartridges is located behind the firing control handle. The final, rear side serves to support the shoulder when firing.
The weapon is not suitable for left-handed people - the window for ejection of cartridges is located on the right side of the rifle, and is very close to the head of a person; when replacing hands with a left-handed person, the ejection of cartridges will occur directly in the face.
There is such a modern approach on rifles as a non-removable handle for moving weapons, it also houses a rear sight with adjustable positions. The control handle and the firing bracket are made in one component with a plastic body, while the enlarged part of the bracket acts as an additional support for the left hand.
The food of the rifle is identical to the Kalashnikov assault rifle, the magazine has a capacity of 30 rounds.
The rifle comes with a bayonet knife, a belt for moving weapons and a cleaning kit for servicing the assault rifle.
Additional accessories ШВ QBZ-95: day sight, night sight, under-barrel grenade launcher (QLG91B caliber 35 mm, LG2 and LG1 caliber 40 mm) and Riot Gun (TYPE B) caliber 38 mm for police operations using special ammunition.
It is also possible to use rifle grenades for shooting, which can be put on the rifle barrel.
Modifications of ШВ QBZ-95:
- basic model QBZ-95;
- model with a short barrel QBZ-95B designed for special forces and the Chinese Navy;
- the QBB-95 LSW light machine gun is made with an elongated, heavy barrel, has an increased rate of fire. A magazine in the form of a drum with a capacity of 75 or 100 rounds;
- QBZ-97 model is made for 5.56x45 mm NATO sample. Receiver for the store "STANAG 4179". It is possible to use compatible stores (a store from M-16 is ideal);
- special model QBZ-97B. Based on the QBZ-97, has a shortened barrel;
- light machine gun QBB-97 LSW. Based on QBB-95 LSW, uses NATO 5.56x45mm cartridge.
