The Chinese military has tested the latest fifth generation fighter. On a local news site, the first images of the plane in the air, taken by amateur photographers, appeared.
In the pictures, which were published by the news portal 163.com, the fighter is flying with the landing gear extended. This is not the first time that pictures of the aircraft, dubbed the J-20, have appeared in the press, but no official photos have yet been released.
In the images that were previously available, the J-20 was captured in a parking lot, as well as on the runway of a factory airfield in the Chinese city of Chengdu, Sichuan province. The first images of him appeared in December last year and all were of rather low quality, RIA Novosti reports.
The reality of the photographed aircraft was confirmed by aviation experts. In addition, the existence of the new Chinese fighter was confirmed by the US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. He spoke about the plane during a conversation with American journalists ahead of his visit to China.
