Currently, the cruiser "Peter the Great" is the most powerful non-aircraft-carrying strike ship in service with the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation. The United States of America, after the campaign and exercises of the flagship of the Northern Fleet TARKR "Peter the Great", began hastily to prepare a project for a heavy nuclear cruiser of the CGN (X) project, with a displacement of 25 thousand tons and on which heavy artillery and anti-ship missiles will be the main weapon complex, will enter service around 2020-2030. Proceeding from the fact that the Peter the Great TARKR has no analogues today, let us compare it with the closest ship of the American fleet with similar characteristics, namely the nuclear missile cruiser of the Virginia project - the nuclear missile cruiser CGN-38 Virginia.

As can be seen from our comparison of nuclear-powered cruisers, the heavy missile cruiser Peter the Great is currently the most powerful ship in its class. The ships of the "Virginia" project have already been withdrawn from the combat strength of the United States Naval Forces and have nothing of the kind.
Project 1144 ship "Orlan" - referred to as "the killer of aircraft carriers" or "atomic killer", "Peter the Great" will not be lonely for long, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the cruisers "Admiral Nakhimov", "Admiral Ushakov", "Admiral Lazarev" will undergo re-equipment and will become part of the Russian Navy. The re-equipment will affect missile systems, the ships will be armed with the latest missile systems and complex solutions. After the cruisers are commissioned, they will solve a wide variety of tasks to repel the strikes of the enemy Air Force, defeat ground targets with missiles and destroy practically any enemy equipment.
The cruisers will be equipped with the latest electronic systems, and the hulls of ships and power plants will be repaired.
The main goal of the modernization is to replace the Granit anti-ship complex with the UKSK universal ship-borne firing systems, which will be able to fire various types of missiles. The main weapon of cruisers against aircraft carriers will be the Caliber and Onyx missiles. S-400 air defense launchers and the latest short-range air defense systems will be delivered.
In general, the updated cruisers will be able to carry on board up to 300 missiles of various calibers, becoming the most powerful missile-armed ships in the world.
The first after the equipment will be the cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" in 2015, work on its modernization and repair has already begun.
