The combat capability of an army depends not only on tanks, aircraft, rocket launchers and various types of small arms. Serial production of trucks and other wheeled vehicles for defense needs at the KamAZ automobile plant was launched at the beginning of 1980. The most powerful version of the diesel engine (360 hp) is equipped with a system that ensures guaranteed starting at ambient temperatures down to -50 ° C. High dynamic and traction characteristics of trucks are available thanks to the use of an 8-speed manual transmission, as well as a transfer case, which allows the use of direct and reduction gears. For the first time in military vehicles, special radial tires "Kama-1260" were used, the pressure in which is allowed in the range of 4.5-1 kg / cm2 (0.45-0.1 MPa), which makes it possible to increase the supporting surface by 2.5 times tires.
