At the request of readers. Big post about the 016th motorized rifle brigade named after Marshal H. Choibalsan. The brigade is one of the oldest and only non-framed units in the Mongolian army. Formed in March 1923 as 1 armored squadron of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army. In the battles on Khalkhin Gol and in the war of liberation in 1945, she took part as the 7th mechanized armored brigade.

In 1978, with the aggravation of Sino-Vietnamese relations and the strengthening of military pressure from the USSR on China, in connection with its aggression against Vietnam, the brigade was reinforced with armored vehicles and reorganized into a motorized rifle division. On the basis of which the 16th motorized rifle brigade was formed.
