Get up to a formidable battle, Defenders of the Russian land.
Get up, get up, know no mercy
On your harsh path.
(Song of the defenders of Moscow (Farewell). Music by T. Khrennikov, lyrics by V. Gusev, film "At six o'clock in the evening after the war")
How often today one has to deal with categorical judgments: “young people are bad today,“if faq, so they …”However, these people did not say anything new. They are generally in "good company", if anything, judging by the following statements: "I have lost all hopes for the future of our country, if modern youth take the reins of government into their own hands, because these youth are unbearable, unrestrained, simply awful!" (Hesiod 720 BC); “Our world has reached a critical stage. Children do not obey their parents. The end of the world is near! " (a certain Egyptian priest 2000 BC); “These young people are corrupted to the core. The youth are insidious and careless and do not resemble the youth of our day. The younger generation of today will not be able to preserve our culture and convey it to our distant descendants”(hieroglyphic inscription from Babylon 3000 years BC).
But especially our children get it for not knowing the history of the Second World War. Like, here we are, we have been, we knew everyone who repeated the feat of Alexander Matrosov by name, but now …
And now there are children too, and there are many of them who are interested in the heroic past of their Motherland and their people. The heroic past of their ancestors is interesting, and this is the fact that it will never be forgotten. So do not "generalize", but before declaring this … you should just go to the nearest school and ask. And when I did just that, then in the 47th MBOU secondary school in Penza, I was shown, among others, this work. And it seemed to me so interesting that I decided to put it here, on the Military Review, so that the work of this boy could be read by others.
So, here is the first research work in the life of a young author, a fifth-grader, based on documents (!), In which he talks about the heroic fate of his great-grandfather.
It is given in the form in which it was prepared for participation in a competition of similar works, which suggests that there are a lot of such studies in Penza. I just removed from it some superfluous "technical details", usual for school competition works and, in general, did not even edit. So…
War…
INTRODUCTION
Time has its own memory - history. That is why the world never forgets about the brutal wars that claimed millions of lives. Farther and farther into history. The Great Patriotic War. Our generation was born, is growing, studying and living in peacetime. We owe this to our great-grandfathers, who did everything to defeat the enemy. We must always remember the feat of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War.
We, the descendants, are obliged to collect bit by bit the truth about the war, about the people who endured all its hardships on their shoulders, about the heroes thanks to whom we live. I am convinced that the study of the combat path and exploits of the participants in the Great Patriotic War will always be important and relevant. Our country will always be strong with the grateful memory of descendants of the exploits of grandfathers and great-grandfathers! Wisdom says: "Only that country in which people remember their past is worthy of the future."
After the war…
In our country, there is probably no family that this terrible war would have bypassed:
“There is no such family in Russia, Wherever your hero is remembered …"
And in my family there is a participant in those great battles. This is my great-grandfather Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov. My research began with a family, or rather with frontline documents and photographs stored in the family archive (Appendix 1), which became the starting point of my research work: "The combat path of my great-grandfather, Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov, Hero of the Soviet Union (based on award documents)" …
I consider the topic of my research work relevant, because, while studying the combat path of the hero of the Great Patriotic War, we pay tribute to all defenders of the Motherland, who at the cost of their health, and, often, their lives, gave us the opportunity to live and be happy, we learn to love and be proud their homeland. The novelty of this study lies in the restoration of the combat path of my great-grandfather Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov, the identification of the heroic facts of the military biography of a relative. I decided to study family heirlooms in more detail, find out the biography of my heroic great-grandfather and his front-line exploits.

Research methods:
• collection and analysis of information on the research topic;
• cartographic method;
• correlation of personal biography facts with historical events (synchronization of events);
• generalization and systematization of the material obtained in the local history museums of Penza and Narovchat;
• study and analysis of family photographs, commemorative awards and documentary sources.
• search for information on the Internet, study of documents on the site "Feats of the People"
• systematization and generalization of the stories of relatives.
The sources used in the work are the memoirs of the Great Patriotic War veteran V. I. and his relatives, materials from the family archive, local history museums, the Penza encyclopedia, Internet resources.
The practical significance of this research lies in the possibility of using its results in history lessons, in extracurricular activities, lessons in Courage; for posting on thematic sites on the Internet; to replenish the exposition of the school museum; family archive.
Relevance of the research: studying the history of the war, we must unite in the struggle for peace, for the blessed memory of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War must not be allowed. Our generation, brought up on examples of the courage and heroism of grandfathers and great-grandfathers, should also love and defend their Motherland!
Chapter 1. Study of the combat path of my great-grandfather V. I. Kashenkov. based on materials of award documents.
Studying the documents of the family archive, I learned that my great-grandfather, Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov, was born on July 25, 1918 into a peasant family, in the village of Nikolo-Azyas, Mokshansky district of the Penza region. After graduating from the school of peasant youth (in 1932) he lived and worked in his own collective farm. In 1939 he married, and in the same year he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army for military service. He served far from home, on the border with Mongolia. He graduated from the courses for junior lieutenants of the Trans-Baikal Military District.
A terrible war began. Kashenkov V. I. after graduating from the regimental school, he was the commander of the crew of machine gunners. Since November 1942 he has been on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He fought in the Central, 1st Belorussian Front, 3rd and 1st Baltic Fronts. By January 1945, Vasily Ivanovich was the deputy battalion commander of the 117th Infantry Regiment of the 23rd Infantry Division of the 61st Army of the 1st Belorussian Front. He distinguished himself in offensive battles in the Baltic States and Belarus. He was wounded four times. He lived his whole life with a splinter in his leg.

Chapter 2. Feats for which Kashenkov V. I. was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Conducting my research, I learned that V. I. Kashenkov. was awarded many military awards: the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, Alexander Nevsky, the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, the Red Banner, Bohdan Khmelnitsky and medals. Participated in the liberation of Poland. The Penza Museum of Local Lore contains documents describing the feats for which the great-grandfather was awarded.

In the battles near Warsaw in January 1945, Vasily Ivanovich at the decisive moment of the battle, replacing the wounded battalion commander, raised the fighters to the attack. Fought off two fascist counterattacks. At the same time, seven guns and a large number of Nazis were destroyed. Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, the occupied line was held. 180 fascist soldiers and officers were captured. For his courage and heroism, Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal.
A very simple star …
At the end of April 1945, Vasily Ivanovich was a participant in a historic event: he met with our American allies during the opening of the second front. This famous event took place on the Elbe River. Great-grandfather met the victory in the German capital Berlin.
In 1946, Vasily Ivanovich returned home with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the reserve. For seven long years he had not seen his family … The time was difficult, post-war, it was necessary to raise agriculture. Great-grandfather was elected chairman of the village council, worked as the head of the social security department of the Nechaevsky district executive committee. Was chief of staff of civil defense. The great-grandfather's family had two sons and a daughter. Vasily Ivanovich died on December 29, 1993 and was buried in the village of Nechaevka, Narovchatsky district.

Chapter 3. Relics from the family archive.
Last year I was lucky to hold in my hands the most important award of my great-grandfather - the Star of the Hero. My emotions were impossible to convey in words. For a moment I imagined that battle with the Nazis, the courage and resilience of our soldiers, which are shown in the front photo. (Appendix 3). Some of the things of the great-grandfather were transferred to the school museum of the village of Nechaevka (Appendix 4). In Mokshan there is a bust of Vasily Ivanovich, in the Malyshkin Museum there is an exposition dedicated to fellow heroes. Every year, sports events and a relay race are held in the region on May 9 in honor of the Hero of the Soviet Union Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov. On the pages of the regional newspaper "Moe Nechaevka Village" No. 1 dated May 2000, I learned that the administration of the Nechaevka village decided to rename one of the streets and name it after my great-grandfather, but for some reason this has not happened yet.
This year my great-grandfather would have turned 100! The Penza Museum of Local Lore has a stand with a photograph and a great-grandfather's award sheet. Writer B. Legoshin wrote a story "South of Warsaw", which tells about Vasily Ivanovich. There are essays on his combat path in other books dedicated to the heroes of his fellow countrymen. In our family, in memory of our great-grandfather, there is a family heirloom - the medal "20 years of victory". Quite recently, this year, we got another memorable thing - this is a plaque that was given to us by our relatives from the village of Nechaevka. An amazing story is connected with it. A dog disappeared from relatives, after a long search it was found in the abandoned house of my great-grandfather - in the cellar. They also found a sign there. Mom said that she had never seen this sign on her grandfather's house, and relatives say the same. For everyone, this story remains a mystery. I think that my great-grandfather was a humble, kind and decent person! Vasily Ivanovich did not like to talk about the war, just like many veterans. He did not talk about his exploits. I think that my great-grandfather believed that in his place everyone would do this. Therefore, during his lifetime, he did not attach a sign to his house with the information that he was a Hero of the Soviet Union.

Conclusion
After conducting research, having studied family relics and documents of local history museums, I learned the combat path of my great-grandfather Vasily Ivanovich Kashenkov, a real Hero of the Great Patriotic War. Having studied the data of award documents and military awards of the great-grandfather, his military actions during the Great Patriotic War were characterized.
Correlation of the facts of the personal biography of the great-grandfather with the historical events of the period of the Great Patriotic War suggests that the proposed hypothesis of this study has been confirmed: during the Great Patriotic War, fighters were able to perform feats.
Research prospects. I consider it important to continue the study of the combat path of my great-grandfather, supplementing it with new facts. The memory of my great-grandfather is sacred in my family. I am proud of my great-grandfather, Hero of the Soviet Union! His life and deeds should be an example for the modern generation. We are indebted to those who fought. This debt must be repaid with gratitude and memory. The collected materials were presented in the class of Courage at school; used in the creation of a musical presentation dedicated to Victory Day; posted on the website of the Immortal Regiment on the Internet; printed in the Book of Memory of the class and replenished the exposition of the school museum about the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
I want the whole planet to have a peaceful sky and never have a war! Our generation should preserve the bright memory of all the veterans of the Great Patriotic War forever and not allow anyone to denigrate it!
Heirs!
I want to end with wonderful verses that seem to be written about my great-grandfather and express pride in him:
My great-grandfather fought in the war:
He saw his homeland in smoke and fire, He fought his enemies in a fierce battle, Defending his country.
This war lasted for great-grandfather
From the first day to the last day.
I reached Berlin, I won the enemy, And he shared his joy with friends.
Here is an old photo in my hand, Native eyes smile at me.
Thank you for your valor, courage and honor, Thank you for being!
