The issue of import substitution in the segment of equipment used by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations remains open. At the same time, it can be stated that dependence on imports remains significant often not even in terms of a set of components, including electronics, but in general in terms of service technology. For example, Austrian firefighting equipment is used at Russian military airfields. High quality, powerful, reliable, but Austrian …

In particular, we are talking about the fire trucks of the Austrian group of companies Rosenbauer. It is one of the three largest manufacturers of fire protection equipment in the world. Moreover, the Austrians create equipment in accordance with European and American fire safety standards. In addition, the equipment is created according to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards.

By the way, this is the same Rosenbauer, which in 2011 the EU court found guilty of cartel conspiracy and fined 28 million euros.

Panther 6x6 fire trucks are used at Russian military airfields (in particular, the Buturlinovka airfield in the Voronezh region). If the nomenclature name is complete, then PAA (airfield fire vehicle) Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 CA5.

The car and its fire-fighting "device" are described by the following characteristics:

The machine is equipped with a special turret for extinguishing fires at heights and in hard-to-reach places. In some modifications, it can use a special Stinger nozzle to pierce the aircraft fuselage and extinguish a fire in a certain compartment:

Returning to the ICAO requirements, which were discussed above: Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 CA5 is capable of speeds up to 80 km / h in 30 seconds, the maximum speed is 117 km / h (ICAO requirements - from 115 km / h). To meet these characteristics in terms of speed and acceleration rates, R20XZL Michelin tires are installed on the chassis of the Austrian fire-fighting "Panther" - with a wheelbase of 4800 + 1600 and a CAT C18 engine (the traction motor is located at the rear of the fire truck).

Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 CA5 crew - up to 6 people.

The transmission of the "Panther" 6x6 is designed so that it is possible to provide the pump operation (with the supply of the foam component) from the traction motor directly on the move. The operation of the pumping unit should also be ensured when maneuvering a fire-fighting airfield vehicle at low speed - up to 30 km / h. How is this problem solved technologically? - A mechanism is used for partial removal of power from the automatic transmission (and the transmission on the "Panther" is automatic), a power divider, which ensures the operation of the pump, including on the move, and a transfer case - to distribute torque over the axles.

And this is a video of Panther's work on the Prague airport runway (YouTube channel ptactvo):

The airfield fire vehicle is equipped with a multi-level lighting optics system.

The lighting optics are partially covered with protective grilles. Also in the design, devices are used to carry out actions for towing equipment.

Buying this kind of airfield fire trucks in Europe is not a cheap pleasure. In this regard, the question is: if the use of the Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 CA5 at the aerodromes of the Russian Aerospace Forces is relevant, is it possible to have a real import substitution option in the service equipment segment - with modern components? Or was the purchase of a Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 CA5 for the needs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Defense solely piecemeal - so to speak, "for trial"?
