I am not calling for war, no. But I urge you to "check the powder flasks". Any sane person understands that gunpowder is good only when it is dry.
I remember our delight after the parade on May 9 this year. With what pleasure we looked at new tanks, new armored personnel carriers, new infantry fighting vehicles. Power, beauty, confidence. And pride. We could, we are not worse than our fathers and grandfathers. And our technique is the best.
It was then, in May, that many of the readers learned about the existence of a plant in Kurgan, which brought to life what became the basis of our pride. I will not bore you by listing everything that is produced in Kurgan. Three items are enough. Only three for the reader to understand. BMD-4M, Kurganets-25 - platform for armored vehicles, armored personnel carrier "Shell".
At the present time, in these conditions, such an enterprise cannot be unprofitable even in terms of the range of products. All three products are not just needed by our army. They were vital yesterday. And the government understands this. Therefore, the plant is literally overwhelmed with orders until the end of 2017.
Literally a bit of history. For those who are not very familiar with Kurganmashzavod.
The plant was founded in 1950. In 1954, he switched to the production of military products. In particular, tracked tractors. These machines are widely used not only in the army, but also among the oilmen of Siberia and the Arctic. Since 1967, he began mass production of infantry fighting vehicles. Currently, this is the only enterprise where such equipment is produced.
Today KMZ is one of the world's largest exporters of BMP. 28 countries of the world buy these machines of various modifications, and in India and Slovakia enterprises have been created that produce licensed BMP-1 and 2.
In order to unify the BMP-3 already common in the troops with the airborne combat vehicles, the KMZ designers developed and tested a new BMD-4 vehicle.
Since 2005, the plant has become part of the Tractor Plants concern.
And now the unexpected. The same fig in your pocket. I read a letter on the Change.org website, and an explosion occurs in my head. Well, it can't be. Some kind of nonsense. In order not to describe what and how, I will just give this letter in full.

Once upon a time there was a famous plant "Kurgan Wheel Tractor Plant" in Kurgan. Many people remember his products from old films. Once he produced MAZ-535, and a little later MAZ-537 (truck tractor). But we know better the famous powerful machines with the wheel arrangement 8x8 KZKT 545, KZKT-7458 "Rusich", KZKT-8005. It was these tractors that could transport semi-trailers weighing up to 100 tons, trailers weighing up to 80 tons, aircraft weighing up to 200 tons. Could …
Now they cannot. This plant no longer exists. And there is no team of 11,000 people. The plant went bankrupt and was sold in parts at the end of April 2011.
Naturally, we will keep the situation at the plant under control. I wonder how it turns out that defense orders do not solve the problem of non-payment for utility bills? At what prices are these orders? Or at what prices are communal apartments? But in any case, it is impossible to demand outstanding success from the team that works in such conditions. A person who thinks about how to warm their hands and wash themselves after a shift will not think about how to increase production and ensure its proper quality.
And then we are forced to "express concern" about another exploded carrier rocket or a satellite that did not work. And we express. What's the point?
Just recently we wrote about the Omsktransmash plant. And we weren't the only ones who wrote. And I am glad that everything is working out at the plant. Up to the point that already dismissed workers were called back. And the workers returned, abandoning other places. Maybe more profitable. As one of the "returnees" said, "the plant, it's a native …"
Many good and clever words are being said about the revival of our military-industrial complex. But you have to do it. And it starts not with Rogozin's hot statements, but with hot water in the shower and hot batteries in the shop.
