During its visit to Ukraine, a Peruvian delegation led by Brigadier General Juan Mendiz, head of the logistics department of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited the testing ground of the plant. Malyshev and KMDB named after Morozov, according to the Peruvian agency Defensa.com.
The Peruvian delegation took part in the tests and evaluation of the Tifon 2 tank.
The first stage of testing mobility, driving on rough terrain at high speed, overcoming obstacles and trenches took place in Ukraine. The second stage provides for a series of shots, descent and displacement, with 3BM48 (APFSDS) and 3BK29 (HEAT) ammunition at targets located between 2500 and 3500 meters.
Tifon 2, developed by the Ukrainian KMDB with the participation of the Peruvian company Casanave (DICSA), is an upgrade option for the T-55 tanks of the Peruvian army. It is the deepest version of modernization of these obsolete Soviet tanks known today. As a result of the modernization, a large number of modern equipment is installed on the tanks, including the 5TDFMA engine with a capacity of 1050 hp, which provides a speed of movement over rough terrain up to 55 km / h forward and up to 30 km / h back. The crew consists of 3 servicemen - tank commander, gunner and driver.
The main armament is a 125 mm KBM-1M cannon equipped with a fire control system with an integrated Buran-Katrin thermal imager and an automatic loader that provides up to 8 rounds per minute. The tank can hit targets with armor-piercing projectiles at distances of up to 3500 and a Kombat guided missile - up to 5000 m.
Tifon-2 is also equipped with a system of optoelectronic counteraction, hinged passive armor protection and dynamic protection of the "Knife" type.
