Actually, here we will be talking not so much about machines, although about them too, as about an innovation in the Russian engineering troops. As a result of the work of sappers in Syria, it was decided to return to the practice of the Great Patriotic War, when not just assault groups of sappers, but entire brigades were used very effectively.

The main task of such brigades was the assault of settlements adapted for defense and the breakthrough of heavily fortified defensive lines. Combat practice has shown that today the work of engineering groups needs some kind of revision. And the revision was followed not only in terms of theoretical, but also practical solutions.

As a result, the engineering brigade today includes an assault and barrage battalion, designed to ensure the unimpeded advance of general-purpose forces in urban environments. This, according to a concept confirmed by practice, allows both to increase the efficiency of actions during the assault on buildings, and to minimize losses as much as possible.

The modern assault engineering department solves not only the issues of working with mines (both supply and removal), but also tactical support for ground units. Undermining of barriers and obstacles, elimination of firing points by using special means (flamethrowers, directed charges, etc.), work with long-term fortifications (for example, underground bunkers and tunnels in Syria).

Strange as it may seem, the new set of OVR-3Sh became the reason for the modification of the Typhoon and Patrol to meet the needs of sappers. Much has been written about him, including ours. A highly advanced and confident piece of equipment that allows the sapper to perform the assigned task properly.

But it was precisely because of the OVR-3SH that the machines had to be modified.

There are two main improvements.

First, the armor of the lower part of the body has been reinforced. Practice has shown that in modern conditions it is necessary to rely not only on the detonation of standard ammunition in service with the countries of the world, but also homemade products. And there the amount of explosive material for manufacturers is limited only by imagination and availability. There have never been any problems with ISIS craftsmen.

The second part touched the inside of the body. The seats have been redesigned, both in quantity and location. The number of seats has been reduced from 8 to 6. And they are spaced out to leave as much space as possible in the center.

The output turned out to be the following:

Two options for using the vehicle in combat conditions.

The first is that a pre-equipped department takes places and moves to the place of work. Already in OVR-3SH, that in the old version of the body was simply unrealistic. The seating arrangement simply did not allow.

Second, in the event of an urgent departure, the department has the ability to equip itself on the go. A more energy-intensive option, but definitely better than equipment outside the car.

A ramp for landing. More convenient than through doors.

Behind the regular remote-controlled Kord is another very useful weapon. RP-377UVM1L complex. A small radio jamming station. Designed to suppress signals for radio-controlled mines. Has proven itself in Syria.

The hatch, of course, is not for ventilation. There is a forced air filtration unit for ventilation.

Actually, a body for 6 people.

The same bodywork has taken place for the Patrol, which is a lighter vehicle, mainly for work in somewhat safer areas. Although the "Patrol" in terms of protection, everything is in order.

Wheels, too, nothing like that, they will pass on any mud.

Here's a "Patrol".

By the way, the keg on the roof is not an air purification filter. More precisely, almost a filter, only purifying the ether. RP-377UVM2, a more modern and smaller complex than the Typhoon. And also marked "Tested in Syria".

Total. Refinement, moreover, prompt revision of technical means to meet the needs of today is great. The fact that the principle "what you have given is what you use" is becoming a thing of the past, cannot but rejoice. As well as the fact that purposeful work is underway to increase the efficiency of the use of troops both in terms of personnel and equipment.
