Pistol M. V. Margolin was developed in 1946 and has been serially produced since 1948. The so-called "long" 5, 6-mm side-firing cartridges are used for firing. Since 1952 the pistol has been produced for a "short" cartridge (MC-1). The pistol has undergone minor modernization and is currently produced under the name MCM.

The self-loading pistol Margolin (MSM) is intended for initial training in target shooting at a distance of 25 m. The sighting device allows you to adjust the position of the sighting line horizontally (entirely) and vertically (with a front sight).

The Margolin pistol is a versatile sporting weapon. It is used both for initial training and for competitions, including high-speed shooting at emerging targets.

The pistol is equipped with a muzzle compensator, additional weights for changing the balance, orthopedic device for the handle.

The automatic pistol works by using the recoil energy of the free bolt. The firing mechanism is hammer with its open location. The trigger has a combat and safety platoon. The breech cover does not cover the barrel. A recoil spring with a stem is located under the barrel. The shutter is engaged with the return mechanism by means of a contactor. The pistol is well balanced. The large tilt of the handle (111 degrees) provides comfortable aiming with minimal arm muscle strain. The sight is open, with fully adjustable front sight.

On the basis of the MCM pistol, the pistol "Margo" was developed, it differs from the base model by a shorter barrel, the presence of a simple open sight, and the absence of a trigger force regulator.

The next upgrade was the development of the Drill pistol. The pistol is designed for the PSM pistol cartridge; in addition to the ammunition, it is distinguished from the base model by a shortened barrel, simple sights, the absence of a number of special devices and a simplified form of grip "cheeks".
