The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Anatoly Serdyukov at the visiting Collegium of the department, whose meeting was held on Thursday at the training ground of the Western Military District in the Nizhny Novgorod region, reported on the creation of a new combat strength of the army and navy and highly appreciated the work on the creation of four military districts, a spokesman for the press department told RIA Novosti services and information of the RF Ministry of Defense.
“Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, opening the meeting, noted the significance of the past year for the Armed Forces. Thus, the minister said that in 2010 a new combat strength of the army and navy was created, the systems of combat control, material and technical support and training of troops were fundamentally updated,”the agency's interlocutor said.
He noted that the head of the Ministry of Defense positively assessed the work on the creation of four military districts, the leadership of which is entrusted to the joint strategic commands, and the formations and military units included in them have already begun full-fledged combat training in the new organizational and staff structure.
Chief of the General Staff, General of the Army Nikolai Makarov, who made a presentation, said that, despite the tight deadlines, all tasks to improve the control system of the Armed Forces and the transition to a new combat readiness system were completed on time.
“Speaking about the tasks of combat training for 2011, Makarov focused the attention of the meeting participants on the organization of individual training of servicemen; the release of personnel from functions unrelated to combat training; enhancing the professional skills of non-commissioned officers; preparation of units for action in difficult conditions; improvement of the educational material and technical base, - said the representative of the Ministry of Defense.
The head of the military inspection of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Gennady Borisov, who reported on the results of inspectors and control checks in 2010, noted the need to change the existing system of command training. "It is necessary to deepen theoretical knowledge and improve the methodological skills of commanders and chiefs of staff of brigades, increase the level of personal training of military units," - quoted the interlocutor of the agency Borisov.
