Perhaps the most important point in holding your own military-technical exhibitions and salons is the ability to provide certain preferences to your organizations and enterprises. The forum "Technologies in Mechanical Engineering-2012" (abbreviated as TVM-2012), which is now taking place in Zhukovsky, fully confirms this. The overwhelming majority of the event participants are domestic companies. At the same time, the forum is attended by responsible persons from many countries. Obviously, all this cannot but affect the commercial prospects of the defense industry and related areas, as well as, as a consequence, their development. Still, at TVM-2012 the products of several dozen enterprises are presented, which will surely find their customer.
According to the good old tradition, armored vehicles attract the greatest attention. The "highlight of the armored program" this time was the new T-90S tank. This development of "Uralvagonzavod" has undergone a number of major changes in comparison with the previous modifications of the T-90. The most important of these is the new tower. It was redesigned taking into account the wishes of the military and modern views on the use of tanks. The electronics of the tank was radically updated: it received a new weapon control system, new communication equipment, etc. According to various estimates, the combat potential of the vehicle has grown by one and a half to two times. But, unfortunately, the T-90S so far has only more or less clear export prospects. Due to the beginning of the development of a new family of armored vehicles "Armata", the fate of the new development of "Uralvagonzavod" remains in question. Probably, the domestic ground forces will not see such tanks. Although it is not worth excluding the possibility of purchases either.
As for other types of armored vehicles, so far there has been almost nothing new. Of all, only the BMPT tank support vehicle and the "Bakhcha" combat module are worth attention. The latter was developed by the Tula Instrument Design Bureau and is intended to be installed on any available type of armored vehicle. Interestingly, in the past few months, rumors have appeared several times about the beginning of the development of an updated version of "Bakhchi". If this is true, then at the next forum TVM-2012, at least a mock-up of the updated module may be shown. In addition to the Tula KBP, other manufacturers also presented their light armored vehicles. We think it is not too late to warn the reader that a considerable part of the "exhibits" of the exhibition from Friday to Sunday will take part in the military-patriotic program "Invincible and Legendary". The program includes figure driving, demonstration shooting and many other spectacular combat actions.
True, in the demonstration performances, most likely, only ground vehicles will participate. At least, the aviation program is not included in the existing TVM-2012 schedule. Nevertheless, the aircraft industry is also represented at the stands of the forum. The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) once again raised the topic of the MC-21 short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft. In the future, this aircraft will have to replace the outdated and outdated Tu-154, as well as foreign equipment of a similar class. Apparently, the creation of a passenger aircraft is going on actively, although not without problems. An example is the situation with the engine for the MC-21. So, at TVM-2012, the United Engine Corporation (UEC) presented a model of the PD-14 turbofan engine. Serial production of this motor is still planned to be launched in 2016. At the same time, the UAC plans to start mass production of the MS-21 in the same year. Obviously, the UAC and the UEC must work together so as not to frustrate each other's plans. At the same time, UAC several months ago agreed with the American company Pratt & Whitteney for the supply of engines of a similar class. We can only guess where the imported motors will go.
In addition to purely military equipment, civilian and dual-use developments were presented at the Technology in Mechanical Engineering 2012 exhibition. For example, the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMZ) presented its line of optical observation systems. The scope of such equipment is more than wide. In fact, these systems can be used wherever there is a need for remote visual observation of something. From ensuring the safety of citizens and controlling communications to intelligence and rescue operations. One of the latest developments of UOMZ is the SON-730 system. This complex has a relatively small size and weight (about 25 kg). As for the user characteristics, the optics of the system allows observing objects located at a distance of up to ten kilometers from the complex. Of course, with proper weather conditions. If necessary, representatives of the Plant say, SON-730 can be equipped with various auxiliary equipment, for example, to provide automatic tracking of an object. In this configuration, the surveillance system can be integrated into anti-aircraft control systems, etc. weapons.
The Utro.ru edition draws attention to another development of the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant - IDN-03. This obscure index hides a neonatal intensive care incubator. The complex of resuscitation equipment allows you to take care of premature babies or provide the necessary conditions for newborns in the postoperative period. According to representatives of the plant, with the help of incubators of the IDN family, developed at UOMZ, about one and a half million children were rescued.
As it happens at such events, the first couple of days of the forum are intended only for representatives of enterprises manufacturing machinery and equipment, potential customers, etc. From July 29, the exhibition opens its doors to everyone. On the same day, the first screening of the Invincible and Legendary program will take place. On the following days, the program will be shown twice a day.
