122-mm multiple launch rocket system 9K51 "Grad" is designed to destroy manpower, lightly armored and unarmored vehicles, artillery and mortar batteries, command posts and other targets in the nearest tactical depth.

The main types of ammunition are: 9M21OF high-explosive fragmentation projectile, 9M28F or 9M22U high-explosive fragmentation projectile, a set of seven 9M519-1 … 7 projectiles to create radio interference, a projectile with a 3M16 cluster warhead for remote deployment of antipersonnel mines, a 9M cluster warhead projectile for remote setting of anti-tank mines. It is also possible to fire 9M21 chemical projectiles, 66 kg rocket smoke projectiles at a distance of up to 20.6 km, as well as illuminating projectiles that illuminate a circle with a diameter of 1 km on the ground from a height of 450-500 m for 90 seconds.
