In the past 2013, the domestic defense industry continued to fulfill the tasks assigned to it by the State Armament Program. Various enterprises continued to develop new weapons and equipment, and also fulfilled the state defense order for the production of existing models. In addition, several types of new technology were adopted. So, Omsk OJSC "Design Bureau of Transport Engineering", which is part of the corporation "Uralvagonzavod", created four types of engineering equipment at once, accepted for supply last year. According to the press service of "Uralvagonzavod", in the near future, the troops will begin to receive the PTS-4 floating transporter, the MMK mechanized bridge complex, the PDP ferry and the MTU-90M tank bridgelayer.
Since 2002, KBTM has been the leading enterprise for the creation of engineering equipment for the armed forces. This company is responsible for the formation of the concept of the corresponding machines and the further creation of new projects. According to this system, several projects of engineering equipment were created. A number of developed machines intended for engineering departments have been successfully tested and are being serially built. Last year, the list of KBTM developments accepted for supplying the armed forces was replenished with four new machines.
The PTS-4 Duplo floating tracked carrier continues the line of domestic transport vehicles. The development of this transporter began in the middle of the last decade, and a prototype was shown to the general public in 2007. In 2011, the new transport vehicle passed state tests and preparations began for the start of its serial construction and acceptance for supply. The floating transporter PTS-4, like the previous equipment of the family, is designed to transport various equipment, people and cargo. The machine can perform various transport tasks, but the main one is the transportation of goods through water obstacles.
Floating tracked carrier PTS-4
The PTS-4 transporter was developed with extensive use of the structural elements of the previous PTS-3 vehicle. In addition, its design uses some units borrowed from the T-80 and T-72 tanks. The transporter weighing more than 33 tons is equipped with a multi-fuel diesel engine with an output of 840 hp. On the cargo platform 8, 2 meters long and 3, 3 m wide, you can place up to 18 tons of cargo. This allows you to transport people, cars, artillery or light armored vehicles. Maximum lifting capacity is achieved when driving on water. When transporting goods by land, the carrying capacity is reduced to 12 tons. On the highway, the PTS-4 transporter can accelerate to 60 km / h. The maximum speed on the water, thanks to the use of two water-jet propellers, reaches 15 km / h. The power reserve for fuel on land exceeds 580 kilometers, on water - up to 10.6 hours. The crew of a two-person vehicle for self-defense can use a large-caliber machine gun mounted on a closed installation.
Mechanized bridge complex (MMK)
The MMK mechanized bridge complex was developed to improve the capabilities of the engineering troops. Previous designs of mechanized bridges (TMM-3 or TMM-6) allow you to quickly direct a crossing up to several tens of meters long, but they need additional supports, which imposes restrictions on the depth of the obstacle to be overcome. The goal of the MMK project was to create a single-span bridge that would make it possible to create crossings up to 40 meters in length anywhere. As the calculations of the Omsk designers have shown, this length of the bridge is sufficient to overcome 87-97% of the obstacles encountered on the way of the troops.
The MMK complex consists of several machines with special equipment. The complex includes two bridge-assembling and six transport vehicles, made on the basis of the four-axle chassis "Ural 532361-1012", as well as the bridge itself of a modular design. The bridge is assembled from nine sections of the aiming beam and nine bridge blocks. After the complex arrives at the crossing point, the crews of the bridge assembly machines equipped with cranes and winches unload the bridge elements from the transport vehicles. Next, the main element of the bridge is assembled - the aiming beam. The beam is installed on the barrier, after which the bridge blocks are mounted on it. In 70-90 minutes, the calculation of the complex can assemble a bridge up to 40 meters long and at least 4 meters wide. Depending on the width of the obstacle, the calculation can assemble a bridge with a length of 16 to 40 meters. Tracked vehicles weighing up to 60 tons or wheeled vehicles with a pressure of no more than 15 tons per axle can move along the bridge of the MMK complex at a speed of no more than 15-20 km / h. When the speed is limited to 5 km / h, the bridge can be used by vehicles weighing up to 80 tons. The capacity of the bridge is up to 400 cars per hour.
Landing ferry
The PDP landing ferry is designed to provide a ferry crossing of various equipment. The PDP complex consists of two parts: a low-silhouette tracked conveyor, created using tank units and assemblies, as well as the ferry itself. The PDP ferry is a three-section structure that can be folded out before launching into the water. When folded, the ferry with a total weight of 29.5 tons fits into the transverse dimensions of the conveyor. The unfolded steam is 16.5 meters long and 10.3 meters wide.
The PDP ferry is delivered to the water barrier using a caterpillar conveyor. Before launching, the side pontoons are unfolded and fixed. While on the water, the RPS can take on board a cargo with a total weight of up to 60 tons. Moreover, its draft does not exceed 650 mm. For movement on water, the steam has a 330 hp engine. and a propeller. The power plant is located in the stern of the ferry, and on the bow there is a crew cabin, consisting of two people. Without cargo, the PDP ferry can move at a speed of up to 12 km / h. At full load, the maximum speed drops to 10 km / h. The fuel reserve allows you to work up to 10 hours without refueling. The RAP complex can perform its tasks at a current speed of up to 2.5 m / s and waves of up to two points. If necessary, the ferry can be docked with the PP-91 pontoon punk links.
Modernized universal tank bridgelayer MTU-90M
The MTU-90M universal tank bridgelayer, which appeared at the end of the 2000s, is a variant of the further development of the MTU-90 serial vehicle. The basis for the MTU-90M was the T-90 main tank, from which the chassis was borrowed with some modifications. During the modernization, some structural elements of the bridgelayer and the bridge have changed, but their principle of operation remains the same. As before, the bridgelayer must approach the obstacle, unfold the three-section bridge and place it over the obstacle to be overcome.
The three-section bridge of the MTU-90M complex allows you to overcome various obstacles up to 19 meters wide. It is noteworthy that the MTU-90 complex provided a crossing over obstacles up to 24 meters wide. The decrease in the width of the obstacle to be overcome was compensated for by the increase in the strength of the bridge. So, the improved design allows the passage of equipment weighing up to 60 tons versus 50 tons for the MTU-90. An interesting feature of the bridge of the MTU-90M complex is the shields that cover the space between the beams. Thanks to this, not only tracked or wheeled combat vehicles can move along the bridge, but also vehicles of various classes. This innovation makes it possible to significantly expand the scope of application of the MTU-90M bridgelayer. For example, now he can fully participate in rescue operations.
The engineering vehicles described above, adopted for supplying the armed forces last year, can perform tasks not only of a military nature. During last year's floods in the Far East, floating transporters PTS-3 were actively used to transport civilian goods and evacuate the affected population. In addition to transporters, other types of engineering equipment were used in rescue operations. Thus, the new vehicles created by the Omsk KBTM may be needed not only for military operations or exercises, but also for various rescue operations.
The press service of the corporation "Uralvagonzavod" in the official press release devoted to the acceptance of new engineering equipment for supply, quoted the words of the General Director of OJSC "Design Bureau of Transport Engineering" I. Lobov. He believes that the adoption of new equipment for supplying the armed forces makes it possible to talk about the possibility of deploying its serial production. This means that in the foreseeable future, the Ministry of Defense and the corresponding defense enterprises may sign contracts for the supply of new equipment of all four types.
