The military drivers recognized the Ural car as the most reliable comrade in arms: he strapped the part with a wire and drove off.
The Russian military department intends to renew the fleet of military trucks, replacing Ural vehicles with KAMAZ vehicles. To determine the preference of the choice, tests of cars of both brands were carried out in Chelyabinsk. The test drive was carried out in rather difficult conditions, both cars overcame ditches and slopes without difficulty at first glance, but the conversation with the drivers who drove the cars tipped the scales on the side of the "Ural".
Deputy commander of the Chelyabinsk special police detachment Yevgeny Gordeev noted that he had fought with this machine in the North Caucasus region since 1994, and that the Ural never let down in difficult situations, repeatedly saving the lives of Russian soldiers. Yevgeny Shishkin, chairman of ROSTO DOSAAF of the Chelyabinsk region, gave a positive characteristic to this particular car. According to him, the only advantage in comparison of both vehicles at KAMAZ is increased comfort. However, in combat conditions, when safety and reliability requirements are put forward in the first place, "Ural" has no equal.
If there is a vacancy for a driver and the choice of a car between Ural and KAMAZ, a real military professional will, of course, choose a car from the Ural plant. Valery Dmitriev, the chief designer for special projects of this plant, also gives a very flattering description. He notes that cars have different uses. If KAMAZ is envisaged as a transport vehicle, then Ural performs tactical combat missions. KAMAZ is more advanced in electronic control, but the reliability and ease of control of the Ural is beyond competition.
The bonnet shape of this car makes it more resistant to detonation in comparison with the bonnet KAMAZ. In addition, it has a more even axle load, which allows it to move on unstable ground. If necessary, "Ural" can additionally hang up to two tons of armored elements on the cab, and the additional load does not affect the stability of the vehicle in any way. Valery Dmitriev noted that replacing the Uralov with KAMAZ trucks is absolutely inexpedient and will lead to a decrease in the combat readiness of the Russian armed forces.
