Uzi submachine gun - start of design work 1948. Today PP "Uzi" is the most widespread weapon of its class. To date, more than 1,500,000 copies of this submachine gun and its modifications have been mass-produced. The standard PP "Uzi" today is inferior to similar modern developments of various manufacturers of weapons. The basis of the standard PP "Uzi" is steel parts, and modern pistols - machine guns have long been made of light alloys of metals or plastic. This all gives the new PP samples reduced weight characteristics, comfortable wearing and quick use as intended.

The Israeli company "IMI", in order not to lose the leading position in the arms market of this segment, in 2010, begins pilot production of a new modification of PP "Uzi" - PP "Uzi Pro". For the first time, the company introduced the latest modification to everyone at the end of 2003 at the eighth Parisian exhibition of weapons "MILIPOL".

Design features of the modification of the PP "Uzi Pro"

The modification is based on an earlier modification of the submachine gun - PP "Uzi Micro".

The layout scheme remained practically unchanged. The ammunition magazine is inserted into the handle to control the fire. Automation, powered by the recoil energy of the freewheel shutter, also remained unchanged. The compactness of the submachine gun is ensured by the bolt raid when firing a shot at most of the barrel.

Shooting takes place from a closed bolt, both in bursts and in single shots. The rate of fire remained low, about 700 rounds per minute. The handle for cocking the bolt was moved to the left side of the barrel box. A distinctive feature of the submachine gun is that one of the constituent parts of the barrel box is made in one piece with a handle. This part is made of high-strength plastic alloys. The seats on the submachine gun are made of high-strength plastic alloys, which are subject to increased loads, reinforced with special steel inserts. At the back, the submachine gun has an attached shoulder rest made of light metal alloys. In the portable version, the emphasis is folded to the right, parallel to the barrel box, and, if necessary, can serve as an additional front handle.

The submachine gun uses 9x19-mm "Parabellum" ammunition for firing. The store has a straight box design. The stores are compatible with other modifications of the Uzi PP. The design of the submachine gun allows it to be used by both right-handers and left-handers.

To carry out aiming, the submachine gun is equipped with a front sight and a throw-over diopter of 150 meters and 50 meters. The top of the barrel box is equipped with a modern rail, "Picatinny rail" on which additional equipment can be mounted - for example, a night sight or an optical sight, a flashlight or a laser designator.

The manufacturer does not report more precise technical data, explaining this by the fact that work on the modification has not yet been fully completed.

The head of the IWI company, Mr. W. Amit made a statement that in the wars of the future, that is, in the wars of the city plan, this weapon of the company, which is a modern, powerful and compact submachine gun, will certainly become the main elements of the weapons of various paramilitary units.
