Such a concept as "service weapon" was first voiced in the wording of the RF Law "On Weapons". This is primarily due to the development of private security business. This type of weapon includes smooth-bore and rifled firearms with a shortened barrel produced by Russian enterprises, while the muzzle energy should not exceed 300 J, as well as smooth-bore weapons with a conventional barrel length.
An additional constructive condition is that when using this type of weapon, there is no automatic firing with a clip capacity of no more than 10 rounds.
PKSK-10 is a short-barreled carbine, which is equipped with various security forces and detective agencies along with private security companies. For the first time this type of weapon was demonstrated during the exhibition "Security-98", during which experts received high marks for this type of weapon.
The production of this type of service weapons has been established at the machine-building enterprise in the city of Zlatoust by the production company "Arms Production", which is engaged in the manufacture of various types of sports and service items used as weapons.
There are a number of rather contradictory opinions on how to correctly identify this weapon as a “submachine gun” or “short-barreled carbine”. Opinions differ, but in function it is more of a carbine than a pistol. Let's dwell on the "short-barreled carbine" option. This sample was a consequence of the revision of the submachine gun PP - 71 "Kedr". Changes occurred both in the ammunition (9x17K ammunition was used) and in the exterior. The capacity of the clip has undergone a change, the mechanism for the production of a shot and the box of the receiver have become structurally different. The shutter of the product is of a free type, during operation it slides along the guide channels of the receiver box. The mechanism for producing a trigger-type shot is located on a base that can be easily disassembled. The clip release and reload lever are located on the left for the convenience of most shooters.
To create a certain comfort in the production of shots at targets that are at medium and long distances, there is a folding metal stock. The sighting device is made in an unregulated version, of a combined type. When the stock is not in use, aiming is carried out through a rectangular slot. When using a weapon with an unfolded stock, the sight automatically switches from the mechanical version to the diopter one, which achieves shooting accuracy, and aiming is noticeably improved. The design of the sighting mechanism allows this type of service weapon to change the sight, both vertically and horizontally.
The fuse box is located to the right of the receiver box and, if necessary, "locks" the trigger and the bolt carrier. At the end of the ammunition in the clip, the bolt carrier delay is triggered, which feeds up the tooth of the clip carrier. The re-cocking lever is located on the left side of the product.
The trigger mechanism is made in an easily removable version; when turning and removing the safety lever-bracket, it is effortlessly detached. Structurally, it is supposed to fire only single shots.
. When firing a shot, the barrel of the carbine is closed by a bolt.
The yoke connection button is located on the left side of the product.
A ramrod is mounted under the barrel of the item, which serves only to visually distinguish the service item from military weapons such as PP - 71 "Kedr" or "Wedge".
The performance data of PKSK-10:
Caliber - 9x17 K
Length w / folded stock -: 312 mm
Length w / unfolded stock: - 540 mm
Barrel length -: 120 mm
Height with magazine -: 180 mm;
Width -: 54 mm;
Weight without cartridges: 1, 6 kg;
Magazine capacity - 10 rounds;
Sighting range -: 50 meters.
A few words about exploitation. The short-barreled carbine is simple to learn and use. Its wearing can be carried out in a hidden way on a belt or a special holster-case, which is supplied with the product.
The range of portable carbines in service armament is so far represented by only one PKSK-10: This product allows firing at targets more accurately than short-barreled classic models, which plays an important role in mobile patrolling and guarding service facilities with a long guard route. Obviously, this type of service weapon is clearly different from gas weapons, and the appearance, similar to military weapons, can serve as a deterrent for violators who decide to encroach on private property.
