Anti-terrorist and anti-partisan actions of power structures, as well as peacekeeping operations in which the use of heavy weapons is either impossible or prohibited, prompted the army structures to reassess values:
1. Sniper training centers have been revived
2. within the framework of the Vzlomshchik development work, three new samples of army sniper rifles were tested
It:
7, 62-mm SV98 non-automatic magazine rifle for standard rifle cartridges
9-mm self-loading rifle SVDK chambered for the new 9x64 cartridge
12, 7-mm ASVK non-automatic magazine rifle for the new sniper cartridge 12, 7x108.
All rifles are equipped with Hyperon pancratic sights of various modifications and night sights.

I would like to dwell on the SVDK rifle in more detail. This weapon was developed in order to surpass the level of penetrating action of the SVD, while remaining at approximately the same level with it in other characteristics, to achieve, with a fundamentally unchanged design, greater efficiency in the fight against targets in body armor.
Therefore, instead of the standard 7.62 * 54mm rifle cartridge used in SVD and SVDS rifles, a new, more powerful cartridge 9.3 * 64mm (9SN / 7H33) was chosen, developed on the basis of the 9.3 * 64 Brenneke hunting cartridge.
The European analogue of the cartridge 9, 3 * 64, which is produced today in our country, was developed in Germany in 1910 by the German designer Wilhelm Brennecke for the Mauser magazine rifle with a sliding bolt. At that time, along with the English.375 H&H, he became the most powerful patron in Europe from the 9 mm group. The English.369 Purdey, which appeared in 1922, which was close in power and intended for double-barreled fittings, could not push it out on the market. This cartridge has been used in big game hunting rifles such as HollandAndHolland. An analogue of the cartridge is also used in domestic carbines, for example, Tiger-9, Los-9.
The sniper cartridge 9.3 * 64mm has a bullet mass of 16.6g, an initial speed of 750 m / s and an initial energy of 5kJ (pictured is a 9SN cartridge):
The development of the SVDK was greatly influenced by its predecessor, the SDVS, with which the rifle has many similarities. The details of the rifles are also structurally similar, although taking into account the fact that they are designed for cartridges of different power.
The overall characteristics of the SVDK are almost the same with those of the SVD, but a much thicker barrel, a heavier magazine, a bipod and elements of its basing and fastening significantly increased the weight of the rifle, which, in general, is interpreted ambiguously. Some shooters argue that when firing from both unstable positions, and when firing from a bipod and an emphasis, the stability of the rifle increased both when aiming at the target and after firing. Others complain of quick fatigue when shooting from unstable positions.

The rifle has a right-folding butt, which reduces the size of the rifle when carrying, folding bipod, replaceable flash suppressor. The main optical sight is the 1P70 "Hyperon" sight.
SVDK can be called a sniper rifle with some stretch. The fact is that the Brenekke cartridge, which is, as it were, the prototype of the 9SN cartridge, was designed for firing at a distance of no more than 300 meters, at which it coped with its hunting task. The reason for the lack is too large a bullet mass with a small case volume for it and, as a result, insufficient powder charge.
At a distance of 300 meters, this product showed an average accuracy of fire with a sniper cartridge 7N33 of 180 mm, which is 2.02 MOA. Compared to foreign counterparts of rifles, this is quite low. From this it follows that the effective use of this rifle is possible only at relatively short distances, no more than 400 m.
The effectiveness in the fight against targets in body armor, of course, has significantly increased - after all, the initial energy of the bullet is 5 KJ versus 4.4 KJ even in the reinforced versions of the SVDS cartridge, and the mass of the bullet is large.
