To be honest, I went to these competitions with mixed feelings. First, competitions of this level have never been held in Omsk. There were qualifiers. There were district ones. But there were no international ones. Second, there were no such competitions at all. Never! Nowhere.
We have developed, probably since childhood, the opinion that the fighter who knocked out a tank in battle is a hero. But the soldier who restored the damaged tank overnight … It seems like he just did his job. The fighter who brought his tongue from the other side is a hero, and the one who brought the river across the river in the same time?
Well, and third … It's not intelligence, not pilots, not tankers, finally. What's interesting to see there?
It turned out that not only I was "worried". Almost the whole city was worried. The commanders of the armored institute were worried, the military policeman was worried, the traffic police officers were worried. Even the audience was worried. And there is nothing to say about the teams. I confess that I haven't seen an agitated colonel, let alone a general, for a long time. And today I saw.
This is understandable. In addition to the fact that the international games are for the first time, so also the 300th anniversary of Omsk! A holiday that really turns the heads of Omsk residents. A holiday that has been practically every day since the beginning of August … Accordingly, the attention from the local and metropolitan authorities is increased.
Now I can say for sure - in vain! The games that have been played before are very well studied. The disadvantages have been eliminated. Organization of competitions at the highest level. Everything worked. From traffic controllers on the track and on the range to the headquarters of the competition and the press center. What a good watch!
Do you know what "killed" the Siberians? Believe it or not, these are speeches by representatives of the Kremlin regiment. Not even bearing and possession of a weapon, in this sense Siberians can be no worse. And here is what we came to congratulate on the holiday. By the way, I spoke with one of the contractors. He has been at the institute for over 10 years. So, according to him, this year the set will be oh what. Boys are torn to the academy. And it was not for nothing that the head of the armored department called the institute one of the best in the world!
It is difficult to convey the excitement. This is not a military technique. Not sports records. These are feelings. Feel you too.
4 teams participate in the competition in Omsk. Teams of Russia, Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China and the Omsk Automobile and Armored Institute. All teams, except for the PRC, use Russian equipment - MTO-UB1, REM-KL, BREM. The Chinese army uses its own counterparts. The composition of teams is no more than 28 people.
As you can see, the representation is decent. How the defense ministries of the participating countries treat the games can be judged by the military ranks of the command commanders. Colonels!
All the excitement ended together with the command of the commanders (in different languages): "Step march!" Everything. On the parade ground were already soldiers, sergeants, officers and generals. And they were ready to carry out a combat mission. It is fighting. After all, games are also combat.
Trust the witness who was with the teams at all stages of the competition, they performed this task with full dedication. They did not spare either themselves or the equipment. It was even breathtaking when huge machines broke through explosions and smoke, "climbed" a huge mountain, slid into a huge "pool". And the wet backs of the soldiers were proof not so much of the depth of the "pool" as the energy expended on the stages.
Even the journalists "got infected" with the excitement of the struggle and ran with their cameras and tripods around the training ground, causing the cadets and officers responsible at the stages to legitimately worry. And those two "Urals", which were proudly called "buses", roaring engines far behind. On the autodrome, only such buses could pass. The army did not show itself, the army competed in army disciplines. So your humble servant also remembered his youth.
