Against the background of blogging posts - especially zealous by Chinese Internet authors - there is a curious message from the Chinese official news agency Xin-Hua, which posted photographs of the Varyag aircraft carrier purchased from Ukraine (built at a shipyard in Nikolaev for the USSR Navy). With notes that the warship supposed to be scrapped may well be included with the Chinese Navy after reconstruction. The East knows how to keep its secrets. And yet, some information is leaking out that the South China Sea is viewed by the political leadership of China not only as a potential theater of military operations, but also as the internal space of the PRC, which is strictly under the control of the Chinese fleet.
The launching of the fully operational Varyag, restored and brought to the required condition at Chinese shipyards, is quite capable of shaking the bowl of the rather fragile balance of the confrontation between the fleets in the region. It is not for nothing that some Chinese bloggers are doing their best in their publications on the topic of Fukushima. In their opinion, the accident at the nuclear power plant was only supposed to camouflage the consequences of the secret test of the first modern nuclear device in the history of the "Land of the Rising Sun" carried out in more than a hundred kilometers from the east coast of Japan in relation to the Pacific Ocean. The Washington administration is also showing some nervousness. The successes of the Chinese economy, coupled with the growing claims to dominance in the waters that are originally considered territorially belonging to the controlling state, are forcing the US leadership to react extremely sharply to the potential launch of the first full-fledged Chinese aircraft carrier.
The opinions of unnamed experts that until China acquires an aircraft-carrying group of at least three ships capable of providing a massive launch of aircraft from their sites simply cannot be criticized due to the senselessness of such statements. And, by the way, this does not at all deny that the Chinese leadership is not concerned with building its own aircraft-carrying ships. The Chinese naval officers could well have received a strategy for their use while studying at various Russian military academies. And this can only increase the anxiety of the Americans. Literally five to six years later, China will be able to bring a combat-ready squadron of ships with aircraft on board to the Pacific Ocean. Neither the United States nor Japan will find such an alignment successful. But the problems that the powers that imagine themselves responsible for the world order will have to solve will intensify many times over when the Americans learn about the experience that the Chinese received while studying aircraft construction in the USSR and examples of running in and using carrier-based aircraft.
